Just about to post it myself! I love that it says more than... its so arbitrary. For all we know we could be 15 million under... its going to be great to see what tanny can do when we do a restructure on Mark and a couple other guys.... Can't Wait!
The 10 million dollar number is good? We still have draft picks and various other positions that need to be addressed. This is kind of a vague question but we can somehow make this happen?
I don't think anyone knows what that means yet, because we don't know if that includes any restructuring of contracts or anything else. 10 million might be a best case scenario, stretching every dollar or we might be a whole lot more if we make a few small tweaks. It's going to be fun.
We havent even signed harris to a long term deal so that would probably add at least another 5 million to ca space
My guess is that the Jets will try to sign Asomugha first and then figure out what money needs to/can be moved around to where. Asomugha's decision is going to dictate what the FO does as far as clearing cap space.
We have a few options. It could be a contract that has a low 2011 cap number, like the Holmes deal. We could also cut or restructure LT, Pace, Thomas, Sanchez. Also, we are allowed to borrow up to $3 million from a future year's cap. David Harris will likely get a new deal that will lower his $10 + million cap number this year The rookie contracts won't be bad since we selected so late in the first round and didn't have a 2nd round selection.
RichCiminiRich Cimini @drebellicha As of last night, Asomugha was still deciding. We'll see what today brings. Jets still in mix
Steve....the sooner that Harris deal is done, the better. I know they're a little pre-occupied right now, but I don't want Harris even going into camp in two days without a 4 or 5 year deal.
this is all driving me crazy. i really dont see him going to sf. if he wants to win he knows that sf is not the place. they are 3 years away at least. we are there now. i guess we will find out if he really wants to win or is all about the money
Newest news if you can call it that... "The Texans are "in the mix" for free agent Nnamdi Asomugha, sources tell the Houston Chronicle. The problem for Houston is that Jets are now reportedly nearly $10 million under the cap -- and that's before they restructure contracts. It's going to be hard to pry Asomugha away from Broadway and coach Rex Ryan if they can't even offer the most money. The Texans may be better off turning their attention to free agent Johnathan Joseph. " http://www.rotoworld.com/playernews/nfl/ I don't see them as a threat....
Hardly, I see Texans as our biggest threat. Depending on how they're able to transition to the 3-4, I could see Aso putting them up there as a contender in the AFC. Still, the rest of their secondary is putrid and will only lead to Jackson getting picked on.
they are not a threat. our only real threat is sf. they can not only offer him big money, but they also allow him to not have to relocate his family. I just dont see him wanting to play for another loser
Ok..just saw Mick's post in the twitter thread, regarding the team's plans with Harris. That's awesome news. Just a matter of time (and this) blowing over.
