I expect him to be more accurate next season, I'm glad he doesn't have to go under the knife this off-season so he can rehab it then work on his throwing mechanics in the off-season I don't see a massive improvement, but if he can be more accurate and we drop less balls, were already a more consistent offense If Holmes doesn't resign that opens the door for Cromartie to resign along with Braylon I still want us to dedicate the draft to defensive players ... WR can be along the FA pickups (Stucky is a FA this off-season he wasn't that bad of a slot WR when we had him)
This is an interesting point, but the team who had the free agent last should be exempt from this fucking rule when trying to retain their own players, if they already aren't.
Also, the Jets leaked they want to make Holmes a #1 priority and then they go and clear a ton of cap space to sign, presumably, Holmes and Edwards.... Holmes' agent is looking to tap into that money set aside for Edwards. Did the Jets show their cards again?
Does anyone think they will sign edwards before he can become a free agent now if they can work out a good deal?? This is a huge blow I dont see everyone coming back, now im worried
Yes, it's been talked about for a while. 3 days left to make it a reality. I've been thinking for a while that the signs point to Tanny trying to get it done.
The same as 2010. NOT the same as every other year under the old CBA. Again, it would be another 1 year emergency situation if the 4/5 year RFA rules still apply.
Don't sign holmes Going to get flamed, but that's fine. First of all, it's my opinion that WR is the most over rated position in football. The last thing I want to do is bring back both Holmes and Edwards unless their deals are on par with their production on THIS team. (4-6 Mil for Braylon, 5-7 Mil for Holmes) We are already seeing the law of diminishing returns with the weapons we have. There were just not enough balls/carries to around this year. Why would we sign a WR to a 8-10 Mill/Year deal, when we know he's probably not even going to get us 1000 yards? Edwards and Holmes (if prorated to 16 games) both produced about 50-60 catches, 900 yards, and about 7 TD's. That's good, but if they are looking for anything more than like 7 million per, I don't think they are worth it. If you look back to the games when Holmes was gone, Sanchez played his ass off. Throw out the Baltimore game--everyone agrees, horrible game plan. After that game, Mark had his best 3 games of the season in a row. 61% completion, 8 TD's, 0 picks 3 wins. Everyone else picked up the slack. Remember Dustin Keller in those games??? We were a well balanced team. I'm not saying we are better without him, but those are some pretty good numbers without the guy. I don't have anything against either guy, but IF it's between signing Holmes to a $9Mil+ deal, or letting him walk, I would rather see them spend the money elseware. Let Cotch earn his #2 money by being a #2. I know Holmes was the hero at the right time in a few games, but he could have easily been the goat just as many times. Lots of drops-- not worth the big money.
I hope they sign Edwards and Holmes. It's not going to help Sanchez to have to get used to a new set of receivers every season.
Every. Single. Argument. That says this ignores the fact that Sanchez is heading into his 3rd year. A BIG part of why the ball wasn't able to be spread around as much stems from the limited attempts Sanchez had in his 2nd year and his relative inexperience. You'll see a BIG growth spurt this season in his game, and I want him to have the best weapons possible, especially weapons he's already familiar with.
I'm just shocked that Big Cotch wouldn't want to do everything possible to re-sign a guy who shares a last name with John.
Is this the start of an avalanche of "don't sign this beast threads"? That would be a welcome relief in the offseason.
