Are you blind? It's obvious that after last season the Jets felt they needed to force the ball to Holmes to avoid further LR issues. It was all forced in order to keep Holmes happy ie feeding his ego. A winner doesn't give up on his own team when they need him the most. A winner doesn't call out his teammates in the media. A winner helps his rookie teammate when he hits a low point. Holmes is not a winner. He's a selfish player.
Ask yourself this question. Do you want to pay him 12.5 MIL against the cap in 2013 to be on the team or do you want to pay him 8.75 MIL against the cap in 2013 to make him go away. Without a restructure that is what Tanny has to decide. Eating 9MIL bucks I'm sure Woody would want to be consulted on that so it might even be out of Tanny's hands.
Dropped a few passes that game, one that could of went 40 yards for a touchdown with ease. It was an excellent drive and I remember that game like it was yesterday. We lost that game 9-0. Jets needed to win that game IMO.
If we do get rid of Holmes then I hope we can bring in another developed young player from the FA. So it would be the #1, Hill, Kerley or Hill can take 1st if he shows he can. Kerley works best as a slot.
I knew you wouldn't come up with anything. Cause it ain't there. I didn't say he was Mr. Nice Guy. I said you are full of it to say he was kicked out of Pitt for being a locker room cancer. As for Holmes, I think he's the most talented skill position player on the team. Sanchez Fans hate him. I am not a Sanchez Fan. And I have found his post game pressers a lot more interesting and informative than those by, say, the starting Qb. It doesn't mean I'd be thrilled to have Holmes as my next door neighbor or anything. But this is not really a popularity contest. Thanks for playing. But you really need to stop posting "facts" that are made up.
The first I heard of Holmes calling anyone out was last year when he said the OL was not playing well, and Moore took issue with it. The Jets btw went on to win the next three straight. SOunds like winning to me.
Many but not all (certainly) Sanchez Fans hate Holmes because they want to blame anyone and everyone else for Sanchez's failings. Holmes happens to be the most high visibility player on O. And is obviously frustrated with Sanchez. I would be too. That's it in a nutshell.
You got any evidence whatsoever to support this(bold)? Holmes got into an argument in the huddle and benched, he didn't quit on the team despite how popular that catch phrase is to the Holmes haters. He was frustrated after losses and felt it was his duty as captain to tell people what went wrong. He never really said anything too far out of line. He pretty much said the line needs to play better and Sanchez needs to step up. He was right. Holmes DID work a lot with the young receivers during this training camp. He's seeing more targets this year BECAUSE HE'S OUR BEST RECEIVER AND IT MAKES SENSE. Sparano >>>> Schotty because he's using Holmes to the level he should be. Selfish or not, Holmes wants to win, which is something I like to see with our team mates, and the bottomline is that he helps us win. Holmes is in instead of Schilen in that goaline play and its a touchdown. Holmes in for Hill on that pass that could have given us the lead we get a touchdown. Holmes on the field is >>>>> than Holmes not on the field. Like you guys would seriously rather have Jason Hill or Chaz Schilens??? Like seriously???? The threat alone that Holmes adds to our offense makes it miles better, and opens up people like Hill & Kerley.
The other thing that's amusing about this thread is that with a second year player in Kerley, S Hill a rookie and Schillens new to the team, the wideouts other than Holmes were inevitably going to be weaker earlier in the year, and should get better as time goes on. That is still likely to occur, but should occur irrespective of anything having to do with Holmes. It's called experience. But mostly what has happened since Holmes got hurt? The Jets have lost, the exception being the Colts game when Indy could not stop the run and Greene had a career day. This is somehow "proof" that Holmes's being out is a good thing??? That doesn't make any sense.
There are no made up facts. Lol the guy is an asshole and not well liked by teamates. The offense looks better without him. He's a baby and plays hard when he wants to. Noone is questioning his talent. I don't know what"facts" you have that are contrary.. There are quotes from players saying such... I have not seen one quote of anyone saying he's a good teamate, nor did any one in pitt shed a tear. Again, I'm confused by your desire to show he's a good teammate. All reports indicate he isn't.
Revis would be all over him. No way he kills our secondary unless our secondary is different (and a lot worse) 3 years from now.
Find me one single quote of anybody on the Jets saying Holmes is a bad team mate or "not well liked". People just make the shit up and roll with whatever the media says and call it a day. It's lazy. What reports indicate he's a bad team mate? Back your shit up. Thus far he's had ONE total incident on the Jets, which was him being angry in the phins game at the end of last season. The offense looks better without him? Shwaaaa?
Wide receiver Santonio Holmes is coming under criticism from Jets teammates, some of them speaking anonymously, for quitting on the team. (Holmes was benched for the final minutes of the Jets’ season-ending loss at Miami after arguing with teammates in the huddle). Other teammates acknowledged the problem publicly but didn’t want to go into detail. “It’s been disturbing for a while,” guard Brandon Moore said. But the veteran running back LaDainian Tomlinson took on the issue in his postgame remarks.
The thing I don't like about him is that when the going gets tough, he whines, complains and doesn't bring it 100% on the field. Nothing to do with Sanchez.
