He got beat once for a first down on an out route. Besides that, I thought he did okay. They played a lot zone and the LBs seemed to be beat the most. Wilson covered Hernandez great twice, one time the ref from 30 yards away called a flag that he shouldn't, the second time he covered him even tighter and the ref didn't throw it. Do people watch other cornerbacks? Jonathan Joseph has probably been burnt more than Wilson this year and he's considered a top 10 CB.
Ah we always remember the good, not the bad. Let's not bring up the Dolphins, Packers, and Eagles game from previous years. All 3 crucial games that we lost because of Holmes. Like I said Holmes has helped us lose just as many games as he's won. I never liked Holmes here to begin with - and I never liked his attitude. What has he done since he got that big fat contract?
Holmes is the most overrated WR in Jets history (Wesley Walker, Al Toon, Rob Moore, Keyshawn Johnson, Wayne Chrebet, Santana Moss and Lavernese Coles were all better).
I'm not going to go so far as to say the offense is better without him. You must consider that the defenses we played while Holmes was in were much better than the last two we played. With the exception of the Texans game (where I thought Sanchez and the offense looked ok), the defenses are just not as good. We'll see how this theory works out when we play Seattle. Oh, don't forget Keller is back now too. He is really a much better player (HOLY SHIT, HE CAN BLOCK) and bigger part of the offense than people give him credit for.
He was never that great to begin with. Do people not understand how terrible you have to be to not record a 100 yard game in 27 games? He's our best receiver? That says a lot about our receiving corps. He's awful, and we certainly don't need him. He doesn't get separation, he drops balls and he has a terrible attitude. Kerley in his first few games as the #1 receiver recorded a 100 yard game. He's better than Holmes at this point and I'd much rather we allow Hill to develop than give that crappy malcontent any more playing time.
if we can run off a few wins and get into the playoffs then bringing holmes back is easy. sanchez will have a comfort level with hill/kerley and will be able to tell tone to step down. if we flame out dumping holmes might be a good idea. he could be intolerable thinking they couldn't do it without him i.m.o
I totally agree! I feel that when holmes is in the line up sanchez feels he HAS to get the ball to him a certain amount. And now that he's out he actually looks for the best option. Just watch yesterdays game. So yes I agree holmes has to go. We all saw what happened to eli after he lost jeremey shockey...
Why?? Because I don't like guys that are quitters or cheaters!! While we are at it, I am enjoying watching the fall of TO and Lance!!
Homes is a gigantic prick that brings needs to stop opening his mouth that being said he would have made that easy grab that Hill dropped. Granted he is a veteran and hill is just a rookie but Holmes would have made that catch. He is clutch. But I still love Hill and I'm excited to see what he does after he settles in.
Sanchez looks less pressured now that Holmes it out. The ball is going to the best option each play, instead of being forced to Holmes just to appease his feelings.
Holmes was playing well before his injury. I think Hill will eventually become our #1 WR in 2 or 3 years which would be better for Holmes.
Maybe Holmes is to Sanchez what Jeremy Shockey was to Eli. Once the Giants shipped off Shockey, Eli started playing a lot better.
My grandmother woulda caught that shit and stiff armed the safety while she gangnam styled into the endzone from 5 yards out.
Our offense is better without him. That is not opinion, its fact. And the reason Holmes was a big part of the Dolphin game is the same reason why our offense is better without him. Think it over before responding.
