^Bullshit. We'll see how things go this year. If we make the playoffs without Holmes or Revis, both players could end up walking after this year. Holmes would have made the catch the Hill & Schillens dropped last game. Don't be silly, though. Holmes definitely makes our offense better. I can't believe people think we're better off with Jason Hill or Schillens. Holmes being on the field helps open up other guys as well, like in the game vs the Bills.
hopefully we can keep Revis. Revis probably knows Holmes better than any other receiver. However, the same goes for Holmes against Revis.
I hope so, but the current "no touching a star quarterback under any circumstances ever" rules have the potential to extend a lot of careers. I think we can all agree that the 2007 version of Brady is never coming back, but if his heart's still in it I think he can play at a high level 'till he's 40.
If it were up to me, I'd keep Holmes and try to bring back Cotchery. Hill will keep improving and Kerley can be a legit #1 or 1A like Braylon. With Holmes and Cotch in the mix we'd be set. I really am starting to dislike Schilens, we should only use him as a blocker. Holmes is the best playmaker on offense, though. Getting rid of him would be silly unless we get a really good deal.
Yeah because Holmes being gone is why we can run the ball again. Without Holmes we lose the first Miami game. Keller being back is also huge. If I had to pick between the 2 I take Keller but to act like Holmes being gone is good for the offense is just silly.
Unless someone shoots you on the football field, a pro football player should never openly throw the ball to the opposition. Holmes and his attitude can go.
True but you can lessen that hit in future years depending on what's agreed to. I'd be inclined to just cut ties and eat the money but Woody might not see it the same way. He may be part of this call so they may have to try and get something out of him. When it comes to 8MIL bucks I don't blame Woody for having a say at that point. The hit for 2014 won't be as great as 2013 if they restructure. Either way it can't be status quo next year with him. Reduce the cap hit or admit the mistake and suck it up for one year on the cap hit by outright cutting him.
It's all cursing, hating, and complaining - Holmes has helped us lose more games than he's helped us win.
Holmes would have caught the ball Hill dropped plain and simple, Holmes is the best WR we have, i don't buy this bs at all
Why are people saying Holmes would definitely catch it? I've seen him drop as many wide-open passes as Hill has.
First of all Running the ball the way we did is why we blew out the Colts WR's had little to nothing to do with that game considering Sanchez threw for 82 yards, The Texans game our offense did not look better, and the Patriots have a horrible pass defense, Holmes was a huge part of why we beat Miami in OT without him we lose that game he had 9 catches that game and his catch set up the winning field goal, There's zero truth to this Holmes had 20 catches in 3 games
Oh really, He won us two overtime games in a row in 2010 and caught that clutch catch to win thecomeback game against the Texans that year not to mention his TD in the playoffs against NE, you guys are fucking nuts i mean really
He has also single handedly saved our asses and won us games. He also was was Superbowl MVP and had one of, if not the greatest catches in Superbowl history. Just sayin.
Was watching NFL network the other day and they were talking about Stafford and how he tends to try to force the ball to megatron when there are better choices to throw to on the field. I really think this could be the same thing with Sanchez and Holmes. Now that Sanchez doesn't have Holmes preoccupied in his head he can consider unbiasedly who to throw to.
Also he's definitely a good receiver (or at least used to be) but is not worth the bad attitude and shit he causes off the field.
I don't think Holmes leaving is the only variable on our offense. Our O line has played much better letting deeper routes develop thus spreading the defense. The run game has also gotten relevant enough to help the passing game. I would like Holmes, but Sanchez basically needs to tell him the sit down and stop complaining. I was reading that Sanchez and current group of TE and WR have been doing extra film study and all that stuff together becuase the lack of practice time. That's something I don't see Tone taking well too. Sanchez needs to tell him step back but the problem is that leads Holmes to run lazy routes it seems. If Kerley doesn't get the ball he still runs his routes and will be open on 3rd and 7 for 8 yards. It's a combination of why Holmes hasn't been as successful as we want here. He wants the ball. He has stated his goal now is to make the HOF I believe. He is still a very talented, you just have to deal with him correctly. And at this moment and time Sanchez isn't good enough to force him the ball or keep him under control.
Kerley was money in that game. Let's go with the youngin and see what they got. They have to do something with Wilson he is just terrible in coverage. I'm getting tired of seeing talk smack after getting beat like a drum.
