First I've heard of this. Then again, being in England often means I hear things well after everyone else.

    What have you heard/read?

The big issue is whether the NFL owners will choose to opt out of the current labor agreement. If they do, the current cap structure will stay in place through 2010 and 2011 will be an uncapped season. If they don't opt out, the NFL will maintain their salary cap for the forseeable future.

They were talking about this recently on the NFL network but it wasn't a very thorough discussion, so I didn't pick up any more details.

The last round of labor negotiations did not go well. A short term agreement was reached in the hope that after a few years the two sides would find themselves in a better mood, not so bitchy. To motivate the owners to renegotiate a clause was put in which would remove the salary cap, most likely increasing player salaries. As of yet no new agreement has been reached, the Poison Pill of an uncapped year may come to be.
