I think Herm made the right call. If you stop the clock to get your D realligned, it also gives the O a chance to come up with something. In this case Herm recognized his own limitations. The likelyhood is the Browns coaching staff would not only have countered but countered better. Herm understanding this figured dumb luck for a change had a better shot than letting his opposition out think him.
I was driving to work today and had the radio on Fox sports.. They were interviewing Herm about the loss to Cleveland..And guess what. He threw the OC under the bus. He basically said the play calling was too complicated and the reason they ran out of time was because the play call names were too long...And he said alot of the times he gets the play wrong because he gets confused by the complicated names... I swear to you, he said this. Anyone else who listened can verify this.
