The SEC Rumor I heard involved the conference image since State fired Croom. We'll have to see what happens. I don't put any weight in it, it was from an AD intern I ran into at a bar last night.
I always envisioned Herm being a college coach -- maybe not a successful one, but a college one nonetheless.
John Clayton says he'll either sign on somewhere as a DB coach or take a TV analyst job. Does not want to be a Defensive Coordinator.
if you knew anything about the Chiefs, you'd know they have hardly any players that are actually getting paid much aside from Tony Gonzalez and Larry Johnson. They obviously have a lot of cap space.
What does him getting fored in KC have to do w/ how he did here? I believe he had them on the right track. Remember he took over an underachieving team that lost alot of talent and guided them to postseason in year 1 then they started completely revuilding. They were developing a young QB and lost alot of close games, the owner wanted to kep Herm but b/c of the failures of the past GM Herm is gone. I don't feel bad for Herm, he left here on his own to go to that sinking ship. It was his fault but that doesnt' change the facts that w/ talent he's a good coach and the fatc that he did a good job for us. Remember, we last missed the postseason back to back years the 2 years before Herm and the next time we did it was the last 2 years.
If he has no desire to even be a DC that shows me that he doesn't have faith in his X's and O's and his coaching ability.
It's funny, Herm's only experience is with bad GMs. Is that maybe because a good GM wouldn't want him as a coach?
Bradway did a good job here w/ Herm but carl Peterson is awful. When you are a GM of a team that won 3 playoff games in 20 years and hasn't won one in 15 then you know you probably don't do a good job bringing in players.
Sad but true...Weeb twice ('68 and '69), Walt Michaels twice ('81 and '82), Joe Walton twice ('85 and '86), Coslet once ('91), Parcells once ('98), Mangini once ('06)
What did TB do that was "good"? Let's just look at drafts from 01 - 04, and I'm fairly certain that "good" won't be a word to describe TB. that 03 class could go down as the worst in the last 10 years. EDIT: THERE ARE 3 PLAYERS STILL ON THE TEAM FROM THOSE DRAFTS. THAT'S EMBARRASSING
Jay Glazer was saying that Herm was looking to be just a DB coach if he were to return. That, and he's looking for a TV job. I'd love to have Herm commentating any game. Oh man.
