Stranger things have happened. Edit: but I personally doubt it's going to be Branch. As bad a position as NE appears to be in right now, they are still in control. Belichick has proven he isn't above sitting his top wideout.
No thanks..................I'd really like Tangini to look at Darius Watts, or Tyrone Calico. Calico may not be Mangini's type of player though
I am really surprised Dreesen, McClover, and Newhouse were cut. I REALLY hoped R. Washington (S) would be cut. He has never impressed me and I just don't think he is that good. Maybe they will finally release the depth chart now.
Darnienen McCants was cut by Philly. He is an x-lphin so maybe Mangini will sign him to get some knowledge from him???
That's the benefit of a regime change. The new guys don't have to care about the impact of cutting players who have not panned out. That said I'm really surprised McClover was let go.
Lot's of talent out there at WR now. And if we get them before they clear waivers, we don't have to sign them to a new contract... Rogers, Watts, Gardner, McCants, Calico Gardner and McCants are a little meh to me, but the other 3 have a ton of potential.
so somebody comfirm this for me: we still have all our PS slots open and some of these cuts might find a place there, right? Please tell me my Dreessen 83 jersey isn't going to waste.
Raiders | J. George cut from team Sat, 2 Sep 2006 16:42:24 -0700 ESPNews reports Oakland Raiders QB Jeff George has been cut from the team. :rofl2:
If they meet the PS eligibility rules, once they clear waivers, they can go there. I don't think he's eligible since he played a lot of games last yr.
Why does everyone like Dreesen so much...it's not like he was the next Mickey Schuler...the guy was average at best.
I cant beleive Dreesen got cut i thought he would be the teams number 2 tight end. I also didnt think Mclover, Mickens, and Andre Maddux would get cut.
I'm fine with the cuts...Except Ryan Myers over McClover...Call it Hurricane homerism, but I consider McClover a better special teamer.
Thats a big difference between this staff and the previous one. This staff keeps guys for playing their position not just specials. They figure they can play others at specials. McClover does not have a position making it much harder for him to play.
Doug Gabriel to NE has me mad. This opens the door for NE to trade Deion Branch to the Jets. (Yeah, that's right. Reading between the lines, you can tell I believe Gabriel is better than Branch.)
Like most of you, I find the Dressen and McGlover cuts surprising (disappointing is not the right word...they were not going to be difference makers). I would expect that there is something brewing here...don't know what positions, but from what we have seen so far from Tangini, there is a plan. I have faith that these were done for the right reasons. DbJ
