Au contraire, mes amis. Yes, as always, there are a lot of older FAs, but there are also quite a few younger FAs at positions of need for the Jets this year, and as more cuts are made for teams to get under the cap, more may become available. Here are the most of the top players under 30 who are UDFAs. OGs Joe Thuney - 29 WRs Chris Godwin - 25 Kenny Golladay - 28 Corey Davis - 26 Curtis Samuel - 25 JuJy Smith-Schuster - 25 RBs Jamaal Williams - 26 Aaron Jones - 27 Marlon Mack - 25 James Conner - 26 Gus Edwards - 26 Kenyan Drake - 27 FBs Anthony Firkser - 26 Jakob Johnson - 27 Kyle Juszczyk - 30 RTs Taylor Moten - 27 Daryl Williams - 29 TEs Hunter Henry - 27 Gerald Everett - 27 Jonnu Smith - 26 DEs Trey Hendrickson - 27 Yannick Ngakoue - 26 Romeo Okwara - 26 Leonard Williams - 27 Takkarist McKinley - 26 OLBs Haason Reddick - 27 Nicholas Morrow - 26 Tyus Bowser - 26 Matt Milano - 26 Eric Wilson - 27 ILBs Jayon Brown - 26 Anthony Walker, Jr. - 26 CBs Michael Davis - 26 Mike Hilton - 27 Ronald Darby - 27 Kevin King - 26 Vernon Hargreaves - 26 Ahkello Witherspoon - 26 Cameron Sutton - 26 Desmond King - 27 SSs Keanu Neal - 26 Karl Joseph - 28 John Johnson - 26 FSs Marcus Williams - 25 Jaquiski Tartt - 29 Ks Daniel Carlson - 26 Zane Gonzalez - 26 Younhoe Koo - 27 Joey Slye - 25 Michael Badgley - 26
That's a pretty solid list, but for once I'm going to be selfish in hoping GB keeps both Jones, and Williams. Also you should have left Kevin King off the list. He's complete garbage.
Nice list, I can only see maybe 3 guys Joe D would be interested in. Thuney, Yannick, Godwin. Those guys are definitely difference makers with character Joe us looking for in a player. JuJu can be productive as well, not sure he’s what Joe D is looking for as potential teammate. I have only heard he is selfish and a distraction not sure how true all of those reports are. Jets need a kicker but I don’t know anything about the kickers on the list.
Well, for starters Joe D already said he doesn’t believe in buying a football team, which tells us he’s not going to sign a lot of FA. No that’s not what I was trying to say, My point is, when you look at Jets needs, offensive and defensive schemes, and team building philosophy, that I only see 3 or 4 guys that might be left available for Joe and Jets to sign that meet his criteria. I’m sure there are plenty of good character guys but how many of them actually can turn the game around? Godwin is a good player but he’s no Robinson. Yanneck is on the verge of being on his 5th team. Milano is a good player but I’m sure he will have better choices to sign with than Jets. I hope you have a better understanding of what I’m trying to say now.
Will not miss Henry 'Personal Foul' Anderson one bit. He had more penalties than sacks the last 2 seasons
Yes, I read it wrong sorry, but JD did sign a few FA's last year and he may well have to again this season, even more so if he tempts Watson to the party. Out of that list, these would be my 4 and I tacked my own personal want on the end of that as well lol Curtis Samuel WR- 25 Jonnu Smith TE- 26 Trey Hendrickson DE- 27 Younhoe Koo K- 27 plus I want Demarcus Robinson WR 26yo from KC, I think he is a good WR and underused in KC due to all their other weapons and his last contract was for just 2.3m and can surely be had for a reasonable contract and be our number 2/3 WR room of Samual, Robinson, Crowder, Mims and Berrios gives us a good skillset and not overly expensive.
I would be surprised if anyone gets a long-term deal this offseason. I think teams and players will opt for shorter (1-3 year) deals and see what happens with the cap going forward.
I liked 'o Henry. His first season here he led the league in batted passes and blocked kicks. Plus he got a few key sacks. Wish him well...
Well, for one thing, Griffin is getting older and slower. His injury is perhaps the biggest problem. When he came back last year, he said his body didn't feel normal and he didn't think it would ever feel normal again. I never heard another quote from him stating that he was past that or that he was fine. I don't remember what his injury was, but evidently, it is still affecting him. Even if he had had a very good year this past year, I think they probably would let him go. LaFleur's offense is built upon speed and creating mismatches. Supposedly, all 4 of the Niners' TEs were fast. I was a little surprised that Jordan Reed was one of them. He is 30 and has had a ton of injury issues in the NFL. He is a FA, but I hope the Jets have zero interest in him. He has never played a full 16 game season in the NFL. The most he has played was 14 in 2015. In his 8-year career, he has played 9, 11, 14, 12, 6, 13, 0 and 10 games.
I think there are a lot of players on that list that Joe could be interested in and probably should be interested in. With all the cap space we have, he can upgrade this team quite a bit through FA. We need help at LB, DE, OL, TE, WR, CB, S, RB and QB. I don't think Joe will have any interest in Yannick Ngakoue, but he might. Other players that I hope he has interest in are Taylor Moten, Jonnu Smith, Curtis Samuel, Trey Hendrickson, Carl Lawson, Tyus Bowser, Nicholas Morrow, Jayon Brown, Michael Davis, Haason Reddick, and Daniel Carlson.
