Tonight's episode is going to focus on Kevin's lunatic father. He's an intriguing character, and it looks like his story has some intense stuff.

Yeah something's going on with the mayor.

I think he used to corn-hole her.

This show pisses me off! Its on exactly when IRT comes on, IRT encore isn't for another 4 hours... IRT isn't doing a mini-marathon before its new episode but yet, Mountain Men, has the previous 3 episodes. Leftovers doesn't encore but I can catch the left coast... Hmmm I might have just figured this out. Thanks for the help!

Leftovers encores all the time plus it's on HBO on Demand.

    What is IRT?

His father it a total nutcase - and now it looks like Kevin is experiencing some of the same effects, his father is warning him about something in the distant future.

The previews for the next couple episodes - shit is about to hit the fan. Really digging this show.

Kevin's father is very convincing -- to the point that I almost want to believe him. But, as of now, I'm just sticking to the belief that he's absolutely insane and that's it; it's just another result of the tragic event on the 14th.

Maybe something else will come of it/him, but based on this episode, I didn't see much else that points to him being anything other than a madman.

Yeah that could be the case - man just so much random things going on - I have no idea where this story is going next. And what's up with the 2 pregnant Asian women?

Looked like evidence that Wayne is scamming them via his lust for young, Asian girls. He told Tom that Christine was the special one and for Tom to protect her; he also must have told the other Asian girl and her guard the exact same thing. How many "special ones" are there?

This sounds like the messiah complex and manipulation that's characteristic of cult leaders in our society. Ever see a documentary on some of these people? It's infuriating how blindly their disciples follow them.

Those cult followers create an unshakable belief. It blinds them from seeing the actual truth. Like a light at the end of the tunnel. I never seen any documentaries, but I used to actually read about this in Psychology class 3 years ago in college. Very scary.

    Wow, just watched it.

Incredible show and there is nothing good that is ever going to happen.

A glimmer last week when the Chief and his daughter had that moment, but that went straight down the toilet.

The Wayne angle is fascinnating, he's gotta have a dozen pregnant asian chicks based upon that pool scene from early on.

And his father, the National Geographic mag, I don't think he's totally insane. He's got some idea what's going on.

Love how the Chief pulls no punches "Go fuck yourself Matt".

    Nice boobs on Nora.

I was really hoping the Chief would roll over in bed and see his daughter's friend instead of Nora.

Interesting role swap in this episode. The series started out with Holy Wayne being depicted as some sort of prophet while Scott Glenn's character was simply a crackpot loon. Now it's kind of shaping up to be the opposite.

I also think one of the themes to the show is that there's no light. I almost want to call it hopelessness, but it's not quite that because not all of the characters have lost hope. However, the suspense that's built in their hope seems to usually result in their hopes not being met -- ultimately, Good will not prevail in this dystopia.

I also liked the "Go fuck yourself, Matt" line. Delivered well.

While I said I was sticking to Kevin's father being insane only, I do find myself having difficulty sticking to that conviction, especially with the presence of the National Geographic magazines. Speaking of which, were we supposed to recognize the covers of the mags? I couldn't quite make out everything on the covers.

And just to make sure, both mags were the same Issue, right?

Same issue. Looked like a Grizzly Bear up on its hind legs being photographed by other photographers.

And it's not any cover I've ever seen, but I haven't seen many in decades. Looked like an old one from the 60s or 70s.
