So we have the new "he looks fat to me", now it's "he looks young". And 6'2" is too short? Better tell the 24 or so Super Bowl winning QBs that, including Namath.

He may not have shown enough yet, but can we at least give him more than his rookie season before we start looking for the next in line.

It will become a PR nightmare for both JD and Saleh if they have to go back to the drawing board AGAIN for a potential FQB. It would admitting they made several major mistakes (Becton, Mims and Zach) with valued DP's while trying to improve the roster. As you said, they would be far better off bringing in a established, successful Veteran to challenge and most likely take over from Zach and run the team. That Veteran QB will come at a price but if they're serious about turning things around faster than the time it took to build The Great Wall of China, they'll find a way to pony up the cash.

I don't see how they could go back to the well to get another rookie and be taken seriously. If Zach fails, they will probably bring a vet in to compete next season

Agree, except for the last sentence. I think the OP is right, Zach will get three, and maybe four years, come hell or high water. Zach represents a significant capital and competitive investment being a #2 pick. The Jets have to be sure before they give up on him. They may bring in another veteran next year, but only as a backup.

I see a few different scenarios that can play out this year in regard to Zach:

Zach elevates his play and becomes an average QB this year and gives all of us hope that he can be "Our Guy"
Zach elevates his play a little but is still a below average QB, still has ?? going into Year 3
Zach plays as bad or worse than he did last year, Jets will probably be very active in the QB market this offseason

The one thing I didn't touch on in any of these scenarios is whether he'll be on the team next season, because it is almost a guarantee that he will. In the worst case of these scenarios, barring some sort of crazy Lamar Jackson/(insert QB that comes available this offseason) trade, Zach will still have a chance to be the starting QB next season.

He'll probably have to compete with a Jimmy G. or Baker kinda guy but unless he's included in some sort of trade package, Zach will be on this team next year and have a chance to be the starting QB for 2023.

2023 will be Zach Wilson's Last Stand as a Jet QB. If he gets his annual injury again, I think he's finished as a viable starting QB here. Zach has to prove to be far more durable than he has so far.

Based on a number of threads, I'd like to get a pulse on where everyone's confidence is in Zach Wilson being a franchise Quarterback for the New York Jets.

I never had confidence in him before he was even drafted. He’s done nothing to instill confidence thus far in his career. You might still hold out hope that he transforms into what you hoped he’d be, but thus far he’s been trash.

Of course Zach will get a 3rd year. The Jets have been making awful decisions for 25 years now. Nothing is stopping them today. Wash, rinse, repeat.

Why would anyone 'lose' faith because of a non-contact injury that required an operation and hasn't quite healed as quickly as people hoped. I've got just as much faith as I had at the end of last season, which is I'll believe it when I see it.

Can't lose it until you've had it. I like Zach, but the story has yet to be written. This 4 week delay sucks but we all thought it'd be worse when he was carted off.

Sorry, but the bold seems like an incredible superficial assessment to me for a guy that played one shorten season and showed quite a bit of progress in the second half. The fragile stigma can be easily applied to any player, tall, short, old , young, bulky, muscle bound, skinny or fat who is unfortunate enough to have back to back injuries in the same general location. Freakish or not. If he is here for four years as you stated, there will be plenty of actual data to make an accurate assessment, utilizing proper measures associated with the QB performance, not how he looks or how he laughs or how young he is. If the later is the measuring standard, then Flacco should propel us to the SB this year. I feel terrible about the injuries to both Becton and Wilson, but I'm not giving up on either yet.

I don't know if "lost" is the right word. Based on how he looked in camp this year and based on yet another injury, I think he's probably a bust, but I wouldn't be shocked if he isn't.

I added Too Early To Tell option as well. I still have hope though. He showed something to Joe D and our coaching staff during Draft Season. I want to see how this unfolds before I give up on him
