yeah, but as a Met fan shouldn't he be hating the division rivals that directly effect the outcome of his team?
I'm a Predators fan, they bug me, even though we own them. Rick Nash in particular. For some reason, not so much hate for the Blackhawks, probably cos they're an utter joke.
When I was a kid, there was only one team I truly hated. The Red Sox. Once football overtook baseball as my favorite sport, the Bills became my public enemy #1. Being in the Jets division, and all the "as long as Thurman Thomas gets 100 yards, they win," but they can't win a Super Bowl just made me sick. Then the Raiders became a total douchebag team to me. (I was actually a fan of the Raiders before the Jets, but I was still on the fringe of being a football fan back then.) Since baseball has become lifeblood again to me, the Sox have retaken the #1 spot. So in order of hatred, my list is: Red Sox Patriots (how many rings do Belli and Brady really need?) Raiders (just because your fans are idiots doesn't give you a license to make Jerry Rice into a douchebag. And why did we have to play in Oakland so many years in a row?) Bills Dolphins (how about a manly color?) Chiefs (yes, I despise Herm that much.) Falcons (yup, I despise Vick too.) Beyond that, I dislike practically any team in any sport except the Yankees, Mets, Jets, Giants, Nets, & Knicks. But I don't actively pursue any hatred towards them.
I don't think it makes sense to hate the teams that you are competing with directly if that's the only reason you have. I hate the Cardinals for things like Looper doing the "Jose" chant at the end of the NLCS. But I don't hate the Braves and Phillies, along with the Pats, Bills, and Dolphins, for simply trying to win. I root against those teams, but not because I hate them: Because it's practical.
I Hate the Patriots, Red sox, Bruins, Celtics, BC, Dolphins, Michigan, Redskins, Duke, Syracuse,Mets Avalanche, Flames, Mighty ducks and Lakers.
I dislike a lot of teams, but I only hate 4. In order: Yankees Islanders Dolphins Mexican Mens National Soccer team.
You hate them for that more than you dislike the Braves taking the division over you guys more times than not? I guess i just watch sports for a different reason than you do. That to me is like me as a Yankee fan not minding what Boston did in 04,because i hate Barry the cheater more.....
All things philly, except for maybe the cheesesteaks. The fans are total scumbags and pompous to an insane. They way they act you think they won the last 6 superbowls. They pick fights with people in front of their kids, they take fighting to an absurd degree where its actually very dangerous, they stadiums staff has a ridiculous policy of throwing out any away teams fan for cheering, when they won't blame the idiots throwing stuff at you. They are just ridiculously obnoxious and take everything to the nth degree when it doesn't have to be. I'm not even going to put down famous "incidents" because everyone knows them. I hate that city with a passion. oh and philly towed my car and arrested two of my friends.
I hate all things boston....pats, bruins, sox....i hate that city.....i hate the fat red head broads that live there.......everything
First of all, I can't compare any rivalry to Sox/Yankees. If I was a Yankee fan, I'd hate the Sox. Just the way it is. Second of all, I don't hate the Braves for beating us. I hate that we lost. Big difference. To me, hating the team that wins is simply jealousy; I don't even hate the Yankees because they win (though it doesn't help) but instead George Steinbrenner and their arrogance.
What arrogance? I wish one of you Met fans could explain this point of view. You are jealous because your team is in the same town and you have had to watch them win a lot in your lifetime. That is what it boils down to. That is not the definition of arrogance. And what has Steinbrenner done? Do what ever he can to have a winning ballclub? The folks who run the Mets are and have been free to do every damn thing he has done to win,but they haven't. It's jealousy. That is all it is.
Bullshit. Thats baiting. You guys throw "Arrogant Yankee blah blah" out there,we question it. Then you guys say "see?". Besides, even if that were the case, your baseball passion, which seems to be hating the Yankees is based on things that happen off the field. Thats lame.
Because you can't come up with a reson other than the Yankees winning. You would not hate the Yankees if they shared the town and were the equivalent to the KC Royals. It's not that you won't,it's that you can't.
You want arrogance here you provide easy ammunition. I've stopped caring about Steinbrenner for years now but whether it is how he acts or how your fans act that because of your team's history that your team can do no wrong and that your team should be worshiped, is exactly the kind of arrogance I am talking about. If I seriously gave a rats ass about your team's history, and was actually "jealous" about your teams success, it would have not been a Mets fan in the 1st place and probably be a Yankee fan, however that isn't how I choose to root for my teams therefore your teams fans' continual use of the word jealousy is a complete joke. And as Jet fans if you are actually jealous of your rivals, then you bring shame to the team's history
I don't think the Yankees should be worshipped by anyone. The Yankees have a great history,so when ever the history of the sport is talked about, the Yankees are usually mentioned and that is what people don't like. How is it that out fans act? This board is a prime example of how Met fans ALWAYS talk about the Yankees, come in our threads, make the Yankees their #1 hated team over their division rivals and we have to fight them off or defend our selves. But when we do,we are "arrogant". Maybe you don't care about the Yankees history, but most met fans do and they are jealous of it. The fact tht i point that out does not tell you how you should feel(like how you made that into us saying we think you should worship us). It just points out how it looks from this side of the fence.
