Who do you think leaked that?

    Ummm...his agent?

No. An agent would never do anything like that.

No agent would say that their client was not going to take a paycut and your division rival is going to grab him if you don't give him what he wants.

No agent would do that. Would he?

    He's obviously posturing. Hell renegotiate.

Plus, if New England did express interest, that's tampering.

I'd gladly let them have Harvin if it means they have to lose Revis or McCourty

I just hate idzik and after depleting the roster and spending no money he did this move when we were 1/7 for no reason. It only cost the jets last season what they had to pay. If he restructures its a decent move, realistically he would have to restructure down to 4 mill a year? To keep in perspective brandon Marshall makes 6.5 mill.

How will it hurt us, he probably tells the jets to fuck off on a restructure, then he will get his ego checked when he realisez no one will pay him anything close to what he wants, and cause God hates me, lol he will then sign with the patriots for pennies and play well, but play lights out against the jets. Lol

Classic sting by Harvin and his agents.. Tell Jets fans the Pats are interested so if he stays at his salary he's perfect!

Harvin could very well be a holdout, and he'll come across as a jerk and fans will cuss him, but it really makes business sense.

Right now, he has zero guaranteed. He could end his career on any play and never make another dime. He's not going into any training camp under those conditions.

He needs some guaranteed money, and, unless Macc just doesn't want the hassle and cuts him, the Jets are the only team he can get that from. No ones going to trade for him, certainly no one is going to pay him 10.5.

So, let him hold out. Jets hold all the cards, and while he's holding out, he's not getting paid.

Helps sign before week one. 3-20, 8 guaranteed. Something like that.

No matter where he goes, he'll be negotiating off the Eric Decker deal...ironically. That was last years biggest FA WR contract, so teams will work from there. I think he'll get less than Decker, but maybe not. Certainly no more.

Of course your right, the bigger issue is how much would he have to come down to? He's not worth half of what he's getting paid now. What do you think a realistic number is for him to restructure?

Actually, Harvin does have some leverage right now since Macc has to decide to give up a fourth or a sixth.

Macc might just not deal with him and cut him, but if the Jets do decide to give up the fourth and keep him on the roster, he WILL sign with the Jets at Decker money or less.

He's ours if we want him.

Right. I could care less. I will never sign somebody to keep him from going elsewhere.

I'd rather give the $ to Cobb. He's younger and already I've heard he's looking for less then the $10mil Harvin is due.
You're also dealing with a more stabile player without that "injury prone" tag.

Everything I've seen has Green Bay never letting him hit the market.

They would be dumb to let that happen

That's not what I've seen,The Raiders said they are ready to make a big run at Cobb but if we want him I'm sure we could lure him to NY.I'm just not confident in us signing a good WR in free agency but if we do I hope its Cobb

    From ESPN:

"According to several people at the combine with knowledge of how the Packers are operating, Thompson and vice president of player finance Russ Ball have been focused on re-signing their top two free agents, receiver Randall Cobb and right tackle Bryan Bulaga. "

I'm not taking it as scripture, but I do think Green Bay will work something out. I can't see them losing him after that amazing season he just had. He is commanding $9 million a year, so maybe they will lose him.
