Says logic and common sense. Why risk losing a position player to keep another QB if you don't plan to keep him all year? That's a waste. One has to look at the reason they kept 4 QBs. They kept 4 because Petty and Hack aren't ready, and they knew they'd surely lose which ever one they released hoping to sneak him onto the PS. The kept Geno because they wanted an experienced backup.

Yes, teams alter their rosters every week, but when is the last time you saw an NFL team change a QB during the season not due to a season-ending injury?

Your reasoning is an epic fail imo.

Idk man did you see Trevon Boykin in his last preseason game? He was escaping the pocket just like Russell. Vernon was beasting in the Sr Bowl, but not much love after that.

I didn't want to draft Hack either, though his potential did interest me. We have him now so Jets will have to make the best out of it. Just like Petty.

There are QB's in the hall of fame that went undrafted.

Don't get carried away with yourself here, Green - there was, and is, no consensus.

(Sorry, NC, didn't see your post.)

I meant many liked Lynch, not all... Just was being expressive to make a point - Lynch so far looks like a 1st round talent.

Hack doesn't even look as good as a typical un-drafted rookie free agent...

A gambling man would bet against him just like every other College qb with erratic accuracy and bad mechanics...

I'm still holding out hope, but I can't say I'm optimistic right now.

What is the obsession with Lynch? Holy crap we have a similar qb in Petty, just not as athletic. Here is the reason why...

No sense in taking a qb that can't take a snap under center, he can't even win the job over Semen with Sanchez too. Give me a break, guy got 10x more reps then Petty and Hack.

Give me a break. Let's see what both have to offer when they get a fair amount of reps.

Other than Warren Moon, which QBs are in the NFL Pro Football HOF who went undrafted? Although I'm pretty confident Kurt Warner will get in eventually, I can't think of any others......

That's fair. I can understand that.

I have confidence in him because I know that mechanics can be fixed with focused, isolated work. Because of the work I do with others, I understand that Hack can't look good right now, because of where he is with his mechanics. Those are the basics of playing the QB position. He's having to think too much, his focus is diffused, his mechanics betray him and cause him to fail, and his confidence is probably suffering as a result. If he can get his mechanics fixed this offseason, I think you'll see a markedly different (better) QB next year in OTAs and TC.

I can't agree with you more about Macc. He has done some good here, but more bad in my opinion. I hope he is leading us in the right direction, but I'm seriously doubting him just like you are. Check these out...........

Maybe they are rebuilding and don't wanna tell this fan base, rather than trying to win now. Some of Macc's choices and decisions have me scratching my head.

Our O-line has needed major work for a few years, but was neglected both of Macc's off seasons. I like Clady, but with all his accolades, there is major risk for our team by picking him up. There is a reason his last team let him go so easy. Clady was Macc's half ass attempt at patching the hole D'Brick left. I admit I wasn't a big fan of Brick, but with Clady's health issues, who is there to back him up. If he goes down, is Macc gonna suit up, because he damn sure didn't think that through. It may or may not work out, but I hope so. If it doesn't, look out QB's! Also, Winters has to start at either guard spot and Qvale and Breno I guess are gonna battle it out for the RT spot once he is healthy. Our line may prove to be our team down fall this season. If Macc is such a wonderful football guy, you would think he has enough sense to know this game is won and lost in the trenches. He has neglected it, or at the most placed band-aides on it his first two seasons. This line needed work when Rex was in year two, and it has degraded every season since with the exception of Mangold and Brick until he retired.

No #2 corner unless Skrine is it. Our 3 thru 5 corners looked like crap in the preseason, and the CB position appears to be our weak link on defense. We all know Revis is still one of the best in the NFL, but he is on the decline. He had a couple good seasons since his knee injury, but Top NFL receivers will catch their share of passes against him. He is no longer "Revis island", and Green (Cinn), Watkins (Buf), Fitz (Az), Brown (Pitt), should show us all we need to know early this season that he is on the backside of his career. He is still the best tackling CB, which should serve him well against those guys. I don't think he is worth the allotted money Macc gave him. He is worth a lot, but not the amount he got from Macc. I guess he does put a tremendous amount of asses in the seats. He is an all time great, but We could have spent this money in 100 different ways to improve this team if we really are "building for the future". New England sure didn't think he was worth the kind of money Macc did.

Forte is an upgrade over Ivory in the passing game, but is he in the Running game? Truth is, there wasn't a great selection of RB's with the money we had free when we signed him. If Forte rushes for 1,000 yards this season I will be shocked. Maybe Pope will add something, but it didn't appear running the ball was a top priority to Macc. We don't have the offensive capability to be pass heavy, but it appears that we may throw on 60-65% of offensive plays this season.

I'm sure there will be occasions that bite us in the ass due to the TE situation. Yea I know, Chan doesn't use the TE often, blah, blah, blah. He would if he had a good one, but we barely have one at all. This position was totally neglected, unless you count addition by subtraction. I'm sure goal line passing situations won't be 5 -wide sets, will they? Maybe we will put Sheldon in as tackle eligible for 3-5 TD's this season? Lol

Our linebackers are younger and faster, but it remains to be seen what effect they will have. Lots of young talent, I can't wait to see them a year or so from now. Hopefully they will be bad ass! On a good note, with the D-line we have, anything with a pulse should do ok. I don't think losing David Harris will kill us, but his veteran skills will surely be missed until he is back. Maybe this turnover will be one of Macc's bright spots.

4 QB spots? With all the holes we have on this team, we are really gonna carry this dead weight? I know this wasn't thought thru by Macc. I don't think Macc had "Future Franchse QB" on his mind when he used our 2nd round pick on a major project. GM's wont last long in this league making a practice out of taking such a reach this high in the draft. This pick obviously was taken in haste due to our team not having the "Fitz signing situation" resolved before draft time. Maybe Macc thought he was the best QB on the board, which is a big mistake on his behalf. I guess Hack's measurables hypnotized him? If so, I guess he would have chosen Vernon Gholston with a top 10 1st round pick too? There is no way N.E. Would have wasted their 2nd round pick on this guy. Their QB situation was under control, unlike ours, and N.E. Is pretty wise with their high draft picks. They may have eventually taken him, which I doubt, but if so, not until much later in the draft. They would have probably reckognized Prescott as more NFL ready, unlike our front office who acted in obvious haste. Watch Prescott play in the preseason reruns on NFL network. He is a much better QB at this point in his career than Hack. Besides all this, most front office regimes in today's NFL don't last as long as what it will take to make Hack ready as a starter. Please hold the "building for the future" bullcrap when Macc screwed up this 2nd round pick. Hack fans.... Notice how Macc didn't allow Milliner, Amaro, or McDougle to develope? Even though he didn't draft them, A similar fate awaits Hack when his lack of progression furthers, or his amount of mistakes keep adding up against his few positives.

On a good note this Regime has resigned Wilk, and moved on Leonard Williams when he fell into our lap. Trading a late pick for Brandon Marshall was also an awesome move. We also seem to have a long term answer at punter too. The hiring of Todd Bowles and promotion from D-coordinator to head coach looks decent for now, but is also like Hackenberg, a project. Looks a whole lot like Rex part 2, minus the Buddy Ryan pedigree. A lot of people compare him to Belichick for the way he handles team news to the media, but the buck stops there. Belichick was an assistant and protege to the great Bill Parcells, which I'm so very sure he learned a lot from. No offense to Bowleither es, but the best thing on his resume is that he played for a great coach (Gibbs), rather than being an assistant to one on a couple Super Bowl teams. I'm not 100% sold on Bowles either, but I am very hopeful.

Is our team rebuilding from top to bottom disguised as a contender because of last season's 10-6 record? I guess we will know come January. Maybe by then it will become more clear if Macc knows what he is doing besides spending the surplus money Idzik gathered and sat on.
With our deficiencies I see our team winning 5-8 games max. I hope we win 12-16, but I just don't see it. Is our current regime leading us in the right direction? As of now, I don't think so. At this point, this regime is making rookie mistakes. Mistakes we can't afford with the speed that the windows of opportunity open and close in today's NFL.
This is not an issue of having faith or lack thereof.
No matter what I will be sitting watching the Jets play on Sunday, like I have for 40 plus seasons. I would really love to see the team hoist up the Lombardi trophy some Super Bowl Sunday. This particular regime appears to be a long way from that excellence, and closer to looking for some other place to work.

Are you Hackenberg's brother or something? Anytime anyone disagree's with your idea of trying to reinvent the wheel by drafting this massive reach in the 2nd round, you want them to leave the fan base. Lol
Your concept of QB's, development of QB's, and the finding of a franchise QB's in Pro football seems to favor Hackenberg only. Man crush? Every GM in the NFL contradicts your every word, but I have to hand it to you..... You keep on keeping on.
Also, with all your QB knowledge, you never have shared with us all, your plan to fix Hack. I know why.
He can't be fixed, and you don't know where to begin, or you would have led us thru step by step. Your love for this waste of a 2nd round pick rivals Junc's for Mark Sanchez.
When Hack is flushed out of this team will you follow him? Just sayin

Now you are an NFL QB coach? For the Jets? Hackenberg himself? OMG, I didn't know that the Jets had coaches who post here. I am so lucky to be in the presence of a professional QB whisperer! Where were you when we had Mark Sanchez? Why didn't you personally work with Geno? Racist or something? I've listened to it all now.
You are a self proclaimed QB guru who doesn't mind to draft such un fixable player in the 2nd round, yet a pro? Who you bull shitting?

If Hack got cut, I bet there isn't one team in the NFL that would run after him. He is a measurables guy at most right now. Petty on the other hand, might just be picked up. He had better college credentials, has more NFL experience, and definitely out played him in the off season. The only thing keepingHack on this roster is his draft placement. The FO doesn't want to admit they screwed up in the 2nd round by picking him, then prove it by cutting him. I would bet money he won't be on this team by year 3. Wanna bet he flops for the Jets, and doesn't make it as a starter unless forced to play due to injury?
I pay up when I lose, do you?

The point he is making you are activley rooting for our second round pick to fail so you can be right.

NC is saying give the kid a chance before making judgement. You want to run the kid out of town aftet playing in ine preseason game and having limited practice time.

If he sucks this bad next year have at it.

I saw an analysis of Hack's play in the preseason. In his 2nd game, it's clear that he's playing scared. He consistently throws with the weight on his back foot. He has to overcome that fear if he wants to be a successful QB.

Well given the OL play he had in that game and what he was used to at College I'm not surprised by that all. It's something that he has to get over for sure.

I hope not to type the word "Hackenberg" here again until next spring.
