I'm not so sure about that, they'd actually have to come back from something and a 7 run deficit to the Devil Rays doesn't count. Because I know Yankee fans can't get it right, it's Great Yankee Collapse
This is No April Fool's The Yankees in a 5 year span from '96-'00 have DOUBLE the amount of Worlds Series Titles that the Mets have from 1962-current.
And in a similar five year spam 01-05 have failed to win a world series, yet having the highest payrolls in sports history. Oh and choked horribly in the 2004 ALCS. GYC
That's ok b/c in that same span the Mets haven't even played in a postseason game and they did lead the NL in payroll last year and STILL were never truly in the WC race.
Actually I'm not a fan of baseball. I just get enjoyment from the woes of your team because of the sheer amount of bandwagon fans it has generated in the last decade. I hate bandwagon fans.
What we've gone through the last decade I don't think any baseball fans can say they have been through so the last few years of underachieving has been well worth it for what we had from '95-'03. I'd say 90% of baseball fans across the coutnry would love to have our "woes".
the yankees are now forever linked with the biggest choke in sports history gyc will never be forgotten
Bandwagon fans do suck, but any team that has won like the Yankees have will tend to draw bandwagon fans. Just like the Pats have over the last 5 years.
That's what happens when you win, look at all the Sox fans last year. When you win teams acquire fans(except if you are the NJ Nets or Devils). In the late 80s all the talk was Mets, Mets, Mets b/c the Mets were good back then. I hate bandwagon fans too but I'd rather my team win and have bandwagon fans than lose and not have them. heck even the Jets have had bandwagon fans the last decade and we haven't even got to a SB- it sucks but there's nothing we can do about it. That's secondary to being the most successful franchsie in the history of American Sports. People will always remember 26 Championships before 2004 except for those jealous, bitter fans that solely care about the yanks losing more than their teams winning.
People will remember a historic choke that happened in their lifetime before they remember a bunch of championships that occured before they were born. A collpase the likes of which the baseball world has never seen and may never see again resonates much more with the casual baseball fan then ancient history.
You keep telling yourself that and you might actually begin to believe it. I know most fans were born for all 4 of our latest Championships and only Fla has more than 1 in that span and we have double the amount of Fla. I grew up in an era where the Yanks didn't win, I just missed the '77-'78 titles by a few years and had to wait until '96 to see them win but even during that long drought the yanks were always considered the elite of sports b/c of what had happened in the past and as long as we have that tradition we will always be looked up to by the rest of MLB and teams in other sports. When people think winning they think of the Yankees.
:rofl2: So now all of the sports world is looking up to the Yankees? Junc you and I both know that if you asked a bunch of random people what they thought of the Yankees "winners" would not be the answer most commonly given. GYC
