junc it has nothing to do with repecting the Yankees but everything to do with the embarresment they brought the city of New York. The key differnce to your little history lesson is that 90% of non-Yankee fans can't rattle off the years the Yankees have won those titles but every baseball fan will remember the Yankees choking away to not another team but your hated rival. A team they owned for 86 years. Yes your history is nice spin attempt but reality is only Yankee fans care about the champonships all of baseball cares about GYC......

The baseball hall of fame and all of the history books will have much more on 26 championships,team of the decade,most successful franchise in sports and all the names that wore pinstripes and grace the hall of fame. No one else cares about this form of admitting inferiority that is the 'gyc".

They might be one of the marque teams in sports but I would bet Manchester United or Laker fans or even Cowboy fans would argue that their team is "the marquee team in all of sports" Hnestly can't stand any of em but your arrogance about the Yankees just makes me remind more often of GYC... just remember G Y C will forever be remembered as the biggest choke in sports history and by you saying "the marque team" that just makes it all the more significant. Most people have no clue who Manchetser United is in this Country. My brother is a big sports fan(doesn' follow as closely as I do but he's a big fan) and he has no clue who Manchester United is and my Wife comes from a soccer loving family(yes we have big battles over that:grin: ) and has no clue who Man U is. The % is very samll of the who know man U in this Country.
