One of THE ALL TIME GREAT ST COACHES , of the NFL. Great Coach and much loved by all players. That was one of the key areas thats been troubling me. Welcome back Westy!
Again, no offense to kevin O'Dea but this is unbelievable news. STs were my biggest concern(wlthough I admit Thomas Jones was getting close) but now I have no worries at least on the coverage and return teams. We have a mediocre K & P but at least he'll get the best out of them.
well not to rain on the parade here... but it's thirteen days to the opener. Westoff while imo the best ST coach ever in the NFL, will not be able to fully evaluate everybody on the roster for the best ST guys, train them in his special way, and then beyond that have them playing as a cohesive unit much like he always has. I expect our ST group to start off slow, but definately by the bye week if not before, to be back to it's dominating force that it has been for years. Also anybody else think that O'dea' salary will remain the same, and that he will essentially be annointed Westhoff's eventual replacement? I mean the man can't coach too much longer he is well on in years...
Good to see Mike back I'm sure he's been watching the preseason and gotten tapes of camp throughout the preseason. I think he knows what players have been working and which ones have not. Good to have the best in the business back
I don't believe for one minute that when Westy 'left' us he downed tools completely. I'm sure he knows exactley whats what. The day he gives up football, he'll draw his last breathe
I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOO happy, I love to watch him throw his cane on the field and yell at the players. BUT you know what. It WORKED. Plus last night our special teams were awfull.
I'm sure man. Football is high stress, Docs wouldn't clear him if he wasn't capable. That said, it will be interesting to see if he can break habits made in his absence.
He is the top in the game. But more importantly, I am very happy that he has been able to recover from his surgery.
YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!! this is the year of the old-guy-i-thought-i-had-retire-but-now-i'm-back-for-one-last-big-score~~!!!
Good news. Maybe he sees this team as one that has a chance to do something special and wanted to be a part!
Love this guy. Great to hear. Not having him was truly a concern for some of us. That's one less thing to worry about now and 1 more to make us stronger.
Great news!!! No dig at Kevin, but this is huge for our special teams. Glad to hear that his surgery was so successful!
