I really like Mauldin. It would be nice to take a flyer on Mannion.

He might have chosen the wrong round to trade down. Considering what we got in the 2nd round and what we didn't get in the 3rd round. Btw keep your eye out for the North Dakota State running back. I saw a workout of his and the guy can stop on a dime. If he isn't drafted he'd be a great FA pickup.

    Mannion went to the Rams.

Not that I give much of a crap, but the media likes this guy a lot. I think he will have a great heart and will eventually replace Pace.

I wouldn't worry too much. Duke is a straight up runner like Brandon Jacobs. Those types find contact and get hurt. He won't have a long shelf life.

Yeah I was a bit ambivalent on this move too. You had to figure he was trading down once before the fourth-round pick cause of only having six draft choices. I literally have never heard of the receiver he traded for till today, though clearly he scouted him in the past. The Jets-Houston moves could also be quid pro quo cause of the relationship with Mikey M, they throw us Fitzpatrick for a 7th, we let them trade up later on.

I hear ya. I just don't get why GMs cant deal with having 6 picks. So what. Just because its less than normal doesn't mean you should trade out of a talented part of the draft (where Duke Johnson, Eli Harold were) and go back 12 spots for two picks which usually end up not becoming anything. Oh yea, and a guy who was disappointing as a Texan. When a guy is dissapointing and he's a 3rd round pick, you know he's bad.

The value of giving up Duke Johnson or Eli Harold does not equal whatever two scrubs they will pick up later on and a guy in Posey who will likely not be on the roster in a year.

When it comes to the later rounds, the more balls you have in the lottery...

Good trade. We should be making more trades like this (slight move back for extra picks).

i dont. should have gotten a 4th. dont really care about 5th and 7ths they're useless in the end most of the time.

Texans didn't have a fourth but we should have found another team with Jaelen Strong for bait.

We could have used the third and fourth to trade back up into round two for a better player or even stayed put and taken the player the Giants stole in round three.

Most of the time is the point, isn't it?

MM suggested that given a lot of blokes don't pan out, the more you can draft the more chances you get of hitting on one or two who actually become significant contributors.

If they thought that whoever they otherwise would have taken at 70 and Mauldin were of roughly the same "potential risk and reward", then you make the trade, no?

It doesn't matter if it's a 5th round pick, if you know what you're doing (in terms of evaluating talent and drafting). Look at the Seahawks, Richard Sherman and Kam Chancellor are both 5th rounders. Yeah, once could've been a fluke, but two 5th round gems? That means you know what you're doing.

Is Posey anything more than camp fodder? Doesn't look like he even runs back kicks.

It basically comes down to :

    1) Are the Jets better than last year?

    2) Is the Jets future brighter?

    So far, looks good.
