maybe next year we can not keep score and give everyone a trophy at the end of the season. and they can all go out for pizza after the game. i hate, yes i truly do hate goodell. he will singlehandedly butt fuck this entire sport to death.
Goodell's administration will be completely responsible for the nfl logo being changed to a vagina and to make things worse the game will be softened to the point where players start having a life expectancy for 70. Unacceptable.
Ok so now that this control-freak has meddled with the overtime rules, begun expanding the NFL to Europe (WTF), encouraged refs to make even more shitty penalty calls, banned TD celebrations, constructed a nonsensical system of penalizing and fining players for hitting other player, and is now beginning to police what players say before games (as if he hadn't taken player conduct far enough), I honestly can't imagine what else he has planned for the next 4 years. Seriously, what a nutjob.
They did have NFL Europe...but it folded a couple of years ago (losses)... Why the fuck would he want to go back? Does he love losing money? Also, isn't Goodell just doing what the owners tell him? Maybe the owners wanted crackdowns on celebrations, hitting fines, etc?
NFL Europe was a separate league. What Goodell wants is an NFL Franchise in Europe, which has potential to make cash, can't possible be worse than the smaller markets in this nation. I believe Goodell does as the owners say but also has his own agenda, he wants the NFL to appear to be family friendly. Calling one of his biggest draws a fuckin asshole isn't exactly family friendly.
Have to disagree with you. Sure looking at it from a context standpoint that Scott may have been aiming at Welker but it is good hype up for a game and with the rules and people looking over such quotes, alot of the time people are all bluff. This has become very silly by Goodell. These players are grown men and its an emotional sport.
I think it would be a catastrophically bad idea. The NFL Wembley series is great - I went to the Saints / Chargers game three years ago - but it was great because it was a one off. There were fans there wearing all sorts of team jerseys, but there's no way that people will give up allegiances to existing teams and buy season tickets and there isn't enough neutral support to fill it with new fans. Tie that to the fact that Sunday games in the US are played too late for all but dedicated fans to watch - the 1pm game kicks off at 6pm in England, and the 8:20pm game finishes around 4am on Monday - and I think it would be virtually impossible for a European franchise to work, especially when compared to the big markets currently without a team like LA, Vegas or even somewhere like Portland.
Fair point. I think Goodell is more-or-less exploring the idea perhaps it will never come to fruition (I hope it doesn't). I figured this franchise would have an immediate impact and make big bank at first before the novelty wore off. Then it would be a mediocre - middle of the road franchise. Obviously the scheduling would be a huge nightmare which will probably prevent it from every actually happening. My point is I think Goodell really has a hard on for this idea and will look at every possible angel of making it come true.
Here is the issue... he wants to crack down on the trash talk but yet he fails to ignore that this past Sunday night had one of the highest ratings ever for an NFL Playoff game. You'd be a complete jackass to think that the pre game trash talk had nothing to do with that. The bottom line is the love or hate the Jets they presently are on of the biggest draws in the league, Ryan with all the crazy shit he brings to the table, a Mexican-American QB who OBTW is doing some big time commercials, Revis Island and the rest of the cast of characters on this team.
I really dislike Goodell. One concrete reason - he's all for an 18 game schedule because of $ but could give two shits about the impact it's going to have on player health. And yet this douche is speaking out about trash talk. GFY Goodell.
The shitty thing is Goodell pretends he cares about player health with this devastating hit rule. If he really cared about player health he wouldn't push for an 18 game season. Although, he's just a lackey for the billionaires.
"Caring" about the player's safety is just a marketing ploy in order to force the fans to go against the players in this upcoming CBA...That's it.
