Definitely capable. The Cowboys defense is still in shambles, the Redskins still don't have a QB, and the Giants arent to convincing (heck many ex-giants are saying the team doesnt look to good)
No thanks, I called the Super Bowl correctly, so if anyone is going to sit here and say I dont know Peyton Manning, I do. (and that's why I saw Wilson outplaying him, his shit recieving corp bottoming out, and Peyton himself making mistake after mistake)
And I am not a Peyton hater either, I dont think the team he was on last season was that good. It wasn't bad but I did not like the defense (the same defense I kept emphasizing that Brady ripped to shreds in the Tebow days), and offensively his "weapons" dont really stick out to me, he had better players in Indy. He really carried that team, but what else is new. If you want me to pick on someone, there is a certain QB out there who I believe gets way to much credit/hype, and is not as good as he appears to be.
It's not an excuse it's context. Funny how you champion context to dispute less than spectacular stats but now want to ignore the context of good stats and minimize it as an excuse. Junc hypocrisy at its finest. How I've missed thee. If Sanchez goes on to have a great career it would it would then put into context his time with the jets and it would reflect that the issues he had were because the shortcomings of the team, not his lack of ability. But that would be dependent on sustained success over multiple seasons, not just one or two seasons. Sample size is what enables you to draw reasonable conclusions. And one game with the Eagles certainly isn't a sample size to show that Sanchez is better than he showed over 4 years with the Jets.
keep deflecting rather than answer the questions. Mark was GOOD here, I know it's hard for some folks to see that but it wasn't his fault the FO allowed the talent on O to deteriorate. he had one bad year here. I haven't said mark was great and I don't put stock in preseason games but he has been the most impressive QB in eagles camp according to those watching. Not bad for a guy everyone thinks sucks.
Well a lot of us are under the impression that Sanchez is half decent and the Jets dragged him down, which you can make a legitimate case for considering he worked with an offensive coordinator who had previously worked with QBs who all had career years the year after he left them(Brees 2006, Pennington 2008, Favre 2009) AND then in 2012 was handed an offensive unit that lacked just about everything. Sanchez is still a mystery to the NFL because he was never in a normal situation, you think back to 2009, how many Rookie QBs were under pressure to win the Super Bowl? Never has happened. He never got to grow up like a Luck, or Dalton, in his 2nd year it was Super Bowl or bust and he played pretty well. The third year he did regress, I think that team should have been in the playoffs but just mental mistakes from Sanchez and the defense just having some bad meltdowns (Sanchez calling the timeout against New England, the Denver pick 6 followed by the Tebow drive later, the Victor Cruz touchdown) ultimately cost us that season. 2012 Sanchez never had a chance, we all knew it prior to the season, it was a toxic situation that really never had the chance to be anything positive. So now, for the first time in Sanchez's NFL career, he is in a situation where he is behind an offensive mind, and is not under any pressure of any sorts right now. He can go play his game because he doesnt have much to lose (He isnt an NFL starter at this moment). Obviously if Sanchez took over the starting job the pressure would rise but its not something he hasn't dealt with before.
I answered the questions. Just because you don't want to admit my answers disputed your position doesn't change the fact that the answers exist.
Sanchez was good for the Jets during two playoff runs, but his ability during the regular season was sporadic and inconsistent. And that's really why this thread exists, not because he had a great preseason game somewhere else, but that people want to prove that his Jets tenure was an anomaly. And that could end up being the case, but it doesn't change the fact that most of his performances in green and white were lacking in results.
I assure you, if he gets the job in Philly he will get them to the playoffs and perhaps win the Super Bowl.
It seems to me a lot of people here place the same or more weight on regular season performances than the playoffs when in my opinion it should be the reverse.
you can't make the playoffs if you aren't successful in the regular season. It isn't that anyone places more importance on the regular season than playoffs, just that if you play poorly and miss the playoffs it is pretty comparable in weight to playing well in the playoffs in isolation of your regular season performance. Very few average QB's have ever won Super Bowls, so the regular season is pretty accurate indicator of a players ability since there are more games to evaluate. A QB that is good in the playoffs and wins a Super Bowl is generally a good QB in the regular season. Having some playoff success isn't that important if you are unable to reach the playoffs consistently, unless that playoff success is a Super Bowl victory like Eli Manning.
The problem with that is the Jets MADE the playoffs Mark's first 2 years. Then were 8-5 in 2011 before the team collapsed the final 3 games. That is not what I would call evidence to get rid of a QB. However, fans wanted to, Jets brought in Tebow and Sparano and ruined Mark completely in 2012 then sent him to the wolves in 2013. His handling in New York is so embarrassing to think back on. Add on the shoulder injury he spoke of and lack of talent on the team, and no surprise things were as they were the last couple seasons.
Sanchez's 2 worst seasons were his rookie and 4th year. The team was so good his rookie season we made the playoffs despite of him. In 2012, his 4th season, the team was hot garbage; we had no chance at the playoffs. So I don't hold any sort of resentment towards Mark as though he held back some great team.
Sporano certainly hurt but Tebow was pretty irrelevant considering Rex had zero interest in him and he was no threat to take the job from Sanchez. Sanchez certainly wasn't given the most ideal situation to excel in other than having a strong running game to lean on. History will settle the debate whether he is a significantly better QB than he showed as the Jets QB. If he is a good QB he will show it. If he is unable to get on the field as a starter again then t would validate the criticism of His play as a Jet. Part of being a good QB is the ability to convince a coach he should risk his job on you being the starter.
You are clearly intimating the illogical conclusion that because Belichick still believed Bledsoe was a good starting QB at that point that Brady would have never been able to change his mind that he deserved the job.
