I really am amazed at how many, like myself, list that Cleveland playoff loss as THE most bitter defeat. How many more are there here? Do you agree that winning this game would eradicate the scars of that loss?
That Cle loss was bad but we probably lose at den the next week and if not we get beat up in the SB so it wasn't the worst loss for me. Den '98 was the worst for me b/c I know we would have won the SB
I have to agree with that, because all of the other memorable losses were basically about the Jets being a second tier team that was reaching for goals that were really beyond their grasp. The Cleveland loss came after the 10 and 1 start, all the injuries, the 5 game losing streak, and the wild card berth. The '98 team had won their first AFC divison title, and felt more like a legitimate contender under Parcells. The loss to Broncos was particularly tough because - as you said - everyone believed the Jets would have won the Super Bowl. The Falcons were there for the NFC, and the Jets had smacked them around pretty good during the regular season.
