True on your first statement. And I'll give you my goals:

    #1. Win the Super Bowl

and the best way to accomplish that goal:

    #1. Get into the playoffs
#2. Get a bye so you play fewer games

If Pittsburgh wins out in the same scenario we would be the third seed.

I want to be in position to root for the Steelers against the Titans.

    Lets go Cheats!

Seriously, do you people really want the patriots to win next week? If we win out, we are going to have a first round bye. There is NO WAY there will be atleast 2 other teams in the AFC with 13+ wins.

I am sensing a little over confidence here. We've been here before people and we've seen what has happened. To already count the next five weeks as wins is idiotic. Denver should be a win with that awful defense, but we have seen what good passing attacks do to the Jets. Buffalo and Miami are both good teams and are capable of beating the Jets. Throw in two trips to the West coast. If that adds up to an easy five wins, you are crazy. The Steelers' schedule is much harder than the Pats. I'd rather get that two game cushion on the Pats and then worry about the Steelers.

Would you guys rather not play the pats in the playoffs or get the bye cause dats wat it might come done i in no way want to see the pats in the playoffs i rather pittsburgh win the bye isnt that important,in some ways it could hurt you.Just look at last year dallas loses the divisional round and ne loses the super bowl.Giants, win the whole thing. The year before that Indy doesnt get a bye the win the whole thing, the year before that pittsburgh 6th seed wins the whole thing.
The bye week means nothing it juts delays the inevitable.I dont wanna see NE at all because that is the team that knows us best, the best thing for us would be for them to not make the playoffs at all

Go Pittsburgh? Are you OUT OF YOUR MIND?

Keep winning and New England is not a problem.

i agree, i want the pats gone. steelers are very tough, but they still have to play dallas, baltimore, tennessee & cleveland
they will be tripped up 1 maybe 2 more times.

Not so fast - if Tenn loses 2 then they are the 3rd seed in that scenario. If Steelers win out, then Tenn woould only need to lose one other game.

If that happens we would be the second seed. We need to Steelers to lose one more game than the Jets. As long as we keep winning, who cares what the cheats do.

It's too soon to ever root for the Patriots to win a game. They have dominated so long, I want them to lose as many as possible. Go Pittsburgh is right.

The correct answer is to root for bears to maul everyone on the field.

But if you feel you must root for someone, root for Pitt, for two reasons:

    1. The Jets haven't clinched a playoff spot yet, never mind the division title. We want distance between the Jets and the teams beneath them more than anything else.

    2. When it comes to the remaining schedule, Pitt has a rough go of it. They could beat the Pats, and I still don't see them finishing with more than 11 wins.

Yeah, I am going to root for the Pats. I want them to miss the playoffs and I want a little space between us and them. I understand the reasoning behind rooting for the Steelers, though. Pitt has a hard schedule and if we take care of our own business we'll be fine.

    Sorry Rob. That's wrong.
We DO NOT control our destiny in that regard which is Why I want Pitt to lose.

If we win out and Pitt Wins out, they get it via tiebreaker of DIV/Conference record.

We can't worry about what we already did which is obtain first place.
We must no MOVE FORWARD to the next step which is a 1st round Bye and a Home game or 2.

That is all only attainable with Pittsburgh losing.
I really don't understand how anyone would be happy with playing an extra game in the playoffs, with one or 2 on the road.

And for the ones with their tail between their legs about the Pats. Us not getting a 1st round Bye quite possibly gives us a higher possibility of Playing the Pats.

Either way, you should be rooting for the JETS to get the BYE and Homefield!!

    - We'd have a week off.
    - One less game to play and Chance to lose (and for the fearful-a smaller chance facing the Pats)
    - Home Field until we play the #1 seed and If we tie with Tenn. that would be throughout.

I really don't understand how anyone would want the # 3 seed when the 2 is so much sweeter!?

Exactly. As far as the Patriots go, if both teams make the playoffs the Jets will either have to play them or a team that beat them in any case. It's much better to get the bye and homefield.

Royal Tee - I see your argument but many feel as if Pittsburgh will lose somewhere down the line. They have a terribly tough schedule. The Pats schedule is more favorable. We want the Pats totally gone. This only can be accomplished if Pittsburgh beats em.
