I didn't put it into the post, but I did think about jenks reworking his contract due to his projected reduced role.

    The jets need that money

I don't know about anyone else, but I can just see him signing somewhere for a minimum deal, change of scenery, motivated to get another big pay day because these guys love it, getting put in a vanilla 4-3 cover two style scheme where all he does is rush the passer and get something like 7 sacks.

    or he'll just flame out.

For a guy who was being called a bust after year one by a lot of the fans and media, I thought VG would, you know, get angry. That is how you know he is not a competitor, because he would shown some anger or at least determination in response to people bashing him.
IMO the warning signs that he was gonna be a bust were there since his rookie year. With Mangini deactivating him later in the season. Fans bash him for not getting 1 sack that year, and VG makes everyone believe that his failure to get a sack his rookie year is no indicative of what he can become. Year 2, no progress despite playing in the 3-4 for a year already. Year 3, actually got to the backfield a couple times (it took him three years to achieve this) but his best game was a preseason game.

What is his number next year?
He's a guy i'm excited to have back, but do agree on a potential role reduction.

His cap number jumps to $6.4 million next year. He had a low signing bonus, so we'd get about $4.6 million back on the cap if he were cut.

Remember the Buffalo game where we played the subs, and Rex said their goal was for VG to get his first sack, and he didn't......

AKA as VG's last chance game.

You suck Gholston. Not only did you suck on the field, but you also encouraged Braylon to drink and drive. Have fun in Cleveland, Jackass!

If you are an idiot and say every pick is awful you will eventually be right.

Revis is why the Jets went 4-12 in 07. I remember that classic Don rant.

I put a lot of stock into Gholston in the beginning. It's sad to see him play like a pussy every week. Bon Voyage, whenever it happens.

Apparently, being inactive for the playoff games wasn't a big enough hint..........I knew he was gone the minute he didn't play in the Indy game.

Now he can do something more commensurate with his talents, stick a bow tie around his neck and dance for Chippendales.

Way too late. He should have been cut already in a capless season.
