Dolan was and is a jackass, I don't mind the stadium being where it's located because I'm 2500 miles away but for you guys that go to the games every week that stadium would have been the gem of the NFL. There would have been so many things around for before and after entertainment options and although I think tailgating would have been severly limited it is at the new joint as well.
I never had the pleasure of watching a game there. I've only seen 2 live games (at KC and at Dallas). But judging from all the comments I've read here over the years, I didn't miss much.
actually many of the comments are just frustration over the fact it was called giants stadium. i am very confident that if it were not called giants stadium people wouldnt have an issue. it was a great venue to watch a game.
im sorry to say but when we where hot that stadium was rocking.it was only the disappointing losses ,which where many, that hurt. and every loss was elavated b/c the one common denominater is it say Giants Stadium.if it said jets stadium we would pick something else to bitch about bunch of superstitous mutha fuckers
My 1st live football game ever...I was so excited to finally go to a JETS game (I was 10) "Welcome to being a JETS fan kid..." hmy::shit:
http://www.pro-football-reference.com/boxscores/198312040nyg.htm this was actually my 1st game in giants stadium. no one was there it was pouring rain. i went with my dad his friend ,his son and his sons friend. rememeber seeing a truck plowing the water off the astroturf b/c of all the puddles
I went to a preseason Jets-Giants game in the early 80s but I'm jot sure which year so that was my first trip to Giants Stadium. My first reg season game there was 1987 vs. Buffalo.
wow just realized my 1st 3 football games 1st one at shea and every was a loss and the last football game there http://www.pro-football-reference.com/boxscores/198312100nyj.htm 2nd one was my 1st game every at Giants Stadium rainy and shit game http://www.pro-football-reference.co...8312040nyg.htm 3rd one was my 1st jets game at giants stadium rainy and a shit game as well (the writing was on the wall) http://www.pro-football-reference.com/boxscores/198411110nyj.htm but this is my 4th game and 1st win ever at Giants Stadium they retired joe namath's # http://www.pro-football-reference.com/boxscores/198510140nyj.htm
My first game was at Shea weeks before your first where we lost to buffalo at home. After that game we swept Buf in '84, '85 and '86 then beat them the first game of '87 which then led me to the next game I would attend- vs. buf 1987 which we lost:rofl: I saw my first win in 1988 against Indy, my next game we lost vs. SF in 1989(I believe that was the game Rich was referring to) and since then I have been to pretty much every home game.

Aside from the name and colors it was a great place to see a game. I've been to Arrowhead, it's actually very similar, I've heard Dallas' old place was too but I'd never been there.
I agree. We never lost a game because of the blue " Giants Stadium" sign and since the Jets moved to NJ, they were not road games for them. As I recall, when the Jets played at home, there were Jets fans in the seats, not Giant fans, so it was Jet home game. After the first year, it always felt like home and never bothered me. We will not be any better because of the new place. we will be better if we are more talented and motivated and prepared then the other team.
i used to love to come up that escalator and as soon as i got off the 1st level i could see that bright green asroturf and i would get so pumped up.it was so different than seeing fresh cut grass on a baseball field or a baseball crowd.it was a concrete jungle full of animals.and the halls smelled like farts and beer back in the day.smoking right there in your seat....
I'm more sorry to see my lower level seats beneath the overhang of the mezzanine go, than I am the actual structure of the stadium. Time will show that this stadium will be missed for being "intimate" with great sight-lines, and loud caring fans sitting in the seats rooting for their NY teams. Go figure... I missed four Jets games in their time there, but the loudest I've ever heard that place, I have to admit, was when the Giants beat Minnesota 41-0 in the NFC Championship game in 2001. Deafening. My favorite Jets moments there are the two Dolphin comeback wins ('86 and the MNF miracle) the Playoff wins against Jacksonville and Indy, and the great GB victory several years back at the end of year that we weren't supposed to be in contention for the playoffs (let alone division win) when the dominos happened to fall correctly for us. They don't often.
