I don't understand the love to these guys. Sure, theyve played well, but why not draft a RB when the draft is supposedly loaded on them?
Smart move if you ask me. Both were injury prone and Giants were 4 mil over the cap. They had to sacrifice some players and they chose to get rid of the ones with clear injury history.
I would draft a RB in addition to signing a vet. Either sign a vet, or bring back Greene all while still drafting an RB imo. Depth must be had.
I understand your argument but I view it as being player centric. I think this is a result of Rex. If Holmes played for the Giants, Coughlin might have hit him with a steel chair. I think from a team standpoint you need to determine if Holmes and others are going to help or have no effect on the team growing again. My opinion is that asides from being currently the best wr on the roster, Holmes adds no long term team building value. Next year is probably a wash anyway, now is the time to move on from someone like him. If you believe Holmes will be a (good) Jet for life then I can understand wanting to keep him. I don't see Holmes finishing his career here or contributing to the rebirth of the team. Holmes first priority is Holmes, and if the Jets have another bad year next year he will get flushed down the toilet with Rex anyway. I'd rather do it now and move on. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap10...d-bradshaw-up-to-returning-to-new-york-giants He may come to the Jets as well (according to the article). I'd take him, but I wouldn't pay him more than a little above vet min.
Everyone was calling for Greene's head at the beginning of the season, then he had a a good game vs Indianapolis and everyone wanted him back. At 3.9 yards a carry I want nothing to do with Greene.
