^?? Gholston had an arm on the back of Pennington's jersey and if he could of simply grabbed him, he's sacked. The pressure caused Penny to throw the ball quick and Barton almost picked it off. Nice job by Gholston to force the throw into a potential INT. But let's ignore that.
his pressures were fantastic, they usually did nearly cause a defensive turnover. That it a huge plus. He gets a sack against Cassel, all this shit goes away. Fans are Bi Polar, especially in NY.
Please Mr. Poppye Gholsten blows...LMAO and the jets aka rats fell into the trap thinking we would draft an obvious bust in gholsten. He;s no football player. He's a one dimsenomal player who rushes the passer but on the nfl level is too slow and predictable. lmao no where near Demarcus Ware or even merrimen with the steriods for that matter. Jerod Mayo is the real deal folks. And crable has more potential than mr. $#6 pick said gholstonn.:hackett::rofl::rofl::rofl:
I think it's pretty impressive you can misspell Gholston 2 different ways. Merrimen is a better misspell though...Nice.
Watch it again... Gholston overran the play, Long formed the pocket, and Pennington stepped up... Just because Pennington is bad doesn't mean that that play was anything more than a young passrusher running himself out of a play... That's something that a lot of young passrushers struggle with...
Yes he overran the play, I agree...I call it more on the side of being overly excited about being that close to the QB to get his 1st career sack. Long didn't do shit except take on the inside guy. Gholston had a clean swipe at Chad, had a hand on him...And couldn't yank his jersey. Chad felt the hand on his back and rushed his throw, for obvious reasons, and Barton almost picked it off. That's how I see it.
^ Well I don't want to say you're wrong... But from a passrusher's perspective, running that deep in the backfield, and overrunning the QB is not good... It creates a pocket, and anyone with a little more presence than Chad is very comfortable in that situation... And I wasn't sure if it was Long or not... Whoever the outermost blocker was, however, did exactly what you're taught to do when facing a passrusher who's going to try to just run around you... Let him run himself out of the play, and seal the pocket...
If you guys are talking about the play I think you're talking about, Long was engaged with the guy who had lined up inside of Gholston and, at the last second was able to lunge over and get enough of Gholston to save Pennington's life. I'll have to go watch it again on TiVo, but that's the way I remember it. Gholston was coming in for the sack and a last second chip by Long put him past Penny.
No doubt Gholston was tentative and afraid to make a mistake in pass coverage but looked the same way on pass rushes too perhaps worried about a last minute hand-off going past him. Brian Cox had possibly the best swim moves as a rushing linebacker I have ever seen so I can't imagine why he hasn't taught Gholston any of his signature moves. I thought he might be holding something back in preseason so he can surprise everybody when real bullets start flying but I guess NOT.
Things are progressing slow, but that is not a huge surprise. He is learning the ins and outs of playing linebacker and dealing with a whole new level of talent. Guys like Pace and thomas were around a long time before making huge contributions to thier teams and I hope Gholston comes around a lot sooner then that. No matter, this is going to take time. I'll be a lot more worried if he's looking the same way towards the end of this season.
