First of all, would you rather have Herm type press confrences where he spends half the day talking to the press instead of working and telling them who's hurt from the previous days game when he is not forced to divulge that information for 2 more days and secondly, be like me, turn off the radio or TV when management, coaches and players are interviewed. They have nothing to say. I am interested in the beat writers since they unbiased but close to the situation. I am all for the way they do things. Can I honesty ask you, what exactly do you want to hear from him that you do not know already without it beind said? What, " We all know Chad has no arm and he has begun to throw interceptions in the red zone, and with us picking Kellen in the 2nd rd., we can only hope that he beats out Chad or we are screwed"

Yeah, I am not sure what you want them to say.

Should they give detailed scouting reports about each player every news conference, letting other teams know their strengths and weaknesses?

I understand they are vague but who really cares, the action is on the field, not in the pressroom.

Press conferences don't bring in FA's, make good draft decisions, or win football games.

I really don't care what they say, I like that they say nothing but I prefer Parcells who at least was entertaining while saying nothing. Another 4 & 12 season and no amount of misdirection is going to be tolerated. If they get good results nobody will care what they say or don't say.

This is the kind of thread that makes me wish we could get back to the Chad vs. Clemens debate.

Press conferences are a helluva way to waste the off-season.

I just think they're best when they say nothing.

Of course I did, WhiteShoeWillie. Why, that's exactly the reason I said what I said.

Because you responded like everyone was agreeing with the OP when every poster disagreed.

I was responding to the originator of the thread -- unfortunately, this Message Board puts your post at the end of the line, separating it from the object of your comment. Often I see that comments without references appear to be non sequiturs (because of this physical separation). I will be careful to include my reference.

Yeah It pisses me off too, I hate how they never really asy anything. It makes it all kind of boring but I do like their jokes once in awhile. I like people to be a little more carismatic but as long as they win this year they could do email press confrence and I would me ok with it.

Performance of the Coach/GM is written in W D L column, not in the press release. Get a clue.

Like we didn't know what was coming. Stop acting naive. It turns my stomach. We all knew the Jets didn't have any presence in either OL or DL. Or were you hibernating?

So you are in favor of head coaches giving out invaluable information to the opponents since he shouldn't treat the fans like idiots? Like I said, the performance of coach/gm is written in W D L column. To me, at least they are doing their part like they should. Again, if that's your propensity, why don't you go root for KC Herms? You'd find just about everything you'd want to know from Herm Press Conference(TM).

    Are you fucking kidding me?

    Are you serious?

You're going to judge a head FOOTBALL coach and the general manager of a FOOTBALL team by their PRESS CONFERENCES?

And you're going to tell us this is all perfectly logical?

And Christ...4-12 had to be dragged in somehow...You somehow just spun "bad" press conferences to poor leadership that showed up on the field on gameday last year? All this by implying that a "good" press conference is when we, the fans, get more info than we may or may not need.

They're treating us like idiots? What do you want them to do, create an open invite for fans to enter our green room on draft day? Set up an internet poll to vote on who we sign and for how much? Set up in game polls to call the plays?

How is the "fact" that they've built a pretty good in 3 years but don't have a QB that *you* like right now scary? You think each franchise comes with a Manning once they get going? Isn't the fact that they took one of the most depleted rosters and franchises in the league and made it a pretty good in 3 offseasons not scary?

There is just some amazing shit in your post here...WTF does the HC and the GM have to do with ticket prices and PSLs btw?

You're completely full of shit. You kept referring to "you guys" throughout your post. If you were responding to one person there would be no reason to say "you guys" over and over. Don't try and pretend like you mistakenly used that phrase because you did it repeatedly.

Sorry for the hijacking, I'm done ...

Now, WhiteShoe Willie, I'm not going to be calling out individuals, but I count at least three posters in this thread that are overly concerned about the press conference communications (before I posted), and some others afterwards.

All this trouble over "guy" versus "guys"... Tsk, tsk, tsk. Decaf anyone?

Ya know, 15 years ago you may have been right, but not in a long time.

I understand the point and I enjoy that thier press conferences are frustrating to many.

Does the press conference really matter? Is you life so empty you need to know which toe the trainer stubbed on his way to rub down our punter?

I could care less as long as they win some football games this year. If they make the playoffs they could stand up there and talk about how much they like the View and Oprah when asked about a defensive play. I'll be all the happier for it.
