Shockey doesn't zig when Eli expects him to; instead he zags. They don't work out enough like Marvin and Peyton do.

Or Shockey keeps having new ideas he doesn't communicate to Eli in time.

Boss certainly is not as creative as Shockey, and therefore perhaps he is a lot more predictable for Eli.

Which, in one way, was all that Eli needed to connect.

I am so hopeful that Pope, the tight end coach who is one of the great gems of the NYG coaching staff in my opinion, can leverage his excellent relationship with Shockey to get this thing between them going.

I swear it's a shame if the situation drives Shockey away.

I don't think Chad has any problems like this with his receivers. Kellen has a problem with throwing balls with the front point heading down -- hard balls with downward front ends are notoriously hard to catch for anybody.

If there's one thing that can be said for Chad is that he is one of the few athletes left that actually ARE good role models for the millions of children and even adults who look up to him.

There are plenty of overpaid millionaires who don't deserve to be on TV without their helmets on, but Chad isn't one of them. He sets a great example for a whole lot of people and that should count for something.

    ...just not the starting job.

Oh I agree Chad is a hell of a guy. Great role model for sure. Hero? Courageous? I guess I just don't like to throw those words around lightly. I don't look to these guys for a hero, I just want them to win a damn football game.

Everyone forgets whether you were a good guy or bad guy eventually.
In sports, sadly, they only remember the wins.

it's not sad -- I don't watch the NYJ to see them lose. If I believed they were going to lose, what's the joy in watching?

They need to have a better than even chance in my mind -- otherwise it's just an exercise in misery, which is not a good habit to get into.

Realistically, last year was a case study, not a season because they were out of games for many different reasons.

Once it was clear that the OL could not be repaired everything else was worked on pretty diligently.
