Favre was here 1 year wouldn't call it a disaster? How would bringing Manning back set the franchise back 5 years. If Sanchez doesn't develop into a Nfl quarterback which theres a strong possibility right now, that would easily set back the franchise 5 years. Average Qb's like Sanchez are so easy to find. Its mind boggling how Sanchez defenders will find any excuse to have Sanchez here next year instead of Manning.
They have to pay him $28 Million on March 5th if hes still on the team. They have an option to cut him, lets hope the Colts get the first pick in the draft.
Manning might retire in October when he takes a hit and realizes he won't be able to move his head without pain for the rest of his life.
The Jets had no QB at the time when Favre got here. We are basically giving away a developing top 5 pick QB to pick someone up who we don't know who can play after multiple neck surgeries. That is how it is setting us back.
This over Rex and Tanny's heads. Not saying it's even a possibility, but if Woody wants to try and get Manning, Rex and Tanny will have to go along with it. Remember this is still a business and Manning will equal a ton of sold PSL's for Woody.
Sanchez "might" never develop into a good Qb and it will take us the 2 years of seeing him play like crap plus another 3 years to draft a good qb and develop him. Id take the odds off Manning "might" recover and win a superbowl for us over Sanchez "might" develop into a "elite" qb any day and anyone who says different is on crack.
Ya a top 5 pick Qb who hasn't played like a top 5 pick qb and will probally never develop into a top 5 pick qb.
Are you serious? Hes one of the most durable players, im sure hes going to come back healthier and in better shape than ever. Taking a whole season off will definately make him feel younger.
He has improved every year. No one thought Eli would ever be a top 8 QB. No one thought Drew Brees would turn into a top 3 QB. It takes time. For better or worse Sanchez is our QB you guys just need to get over it. With a new OC, RG, and maybe even a new WR Sanchez will continue to develop and play better.
Are you serious? Hard to call a really old QB who just missed an entire season durable at this point. Come back in better shape? He's not exercising or practicing like he should be because of his neck injury.
If Gholtson improved from 0 tackles to 1 tackle to 2 tackles in 3 season thats improvement yet he was still a bust.Just cause you improve from shit #'s to shit #'s doesn't say you improved. Manning already today is better then what Sanchez may ever turn into. And you Sanchez supporters need to get over it. I just hope Woody wants Manning to and is as tired of Sanchez as the "realists" are.
After reading this thread and the rest of the board this week, I am convinced the most Jets fans are among the least knowledgeable in the NFL. This team needs a fairly significant fine tuning in the offseason. If you think bringing in Manning cures all ills, you just don't know football. And this is coming from a fan who has had season tickets for 31 years and is 52 years old and has suffered through all 42 years of futility. I have seen this before - over and over - and bringing in the older formerly great players for that short term fix never works and has failed miserably for the Jets many many times in the past. I am not willing to go through it again. Stay the course. Fix the "real" problem with this team - the OC and the offense, OL, safety, speed on offense, speed at LB - and this team will compete for years to come. Go the one-two year Manning fix route and it will fail because this team isn't good enough right now and QB is not even in the top 5 in the list of issues. In 2013, we will be starting over ........again. And Sanchez will be leading some other to playoff wins every year. I don't understand why Jets fans can't see that. Maybe 40 years of perspective is what is needed instead of the current generation of fans that can't see past last week.
I hope you were being sarcastic. Otherwise, thanks for the opinion. Can we see your MD degree? He's so durable he just missed an entire season. Good call.
Bottom line who gives us a better shot of winning the superbowl next 3 years Mark Sanchez or Peyton Manning. And thats what the Nfl is all about winning superbowls.
Yeah this really would fix our problems. I just signed Manning on Madden to the Jets and simmed the season and we won the super bowl.
I will take Sanchez over Manning over the next three years in a heartbeat. Old QBs don't win SBs and injured old QBs who eat up 25% of a team's cap never do.
But Sanchez develops into a "elite" qb in Madden so obviously he will develop into a "elite" qb in the Nfl?
I think a lot of people are missing a key point to what the article is suggesting. The article suggests we could get Manning AND KEEP Sanchez. Please don't overlook that. Manning can fix a lot of problems and this defense would be much better playing with a lead on a regular basis.
