Unfortunately, that poll is still open. I didn't vote, but I could go in there and vote for 10-6 and skew it, as can others who did not vote.

It must have been in August when I predicted a 5-11 season. It is great that I was so very wrong. (The only other times I was way off were in 1992 and 2005. Probably predicted 10-6 or 11-5 in 1992 and 9-7 in 2005.)
That said, I went 13-3 picking Jets games both against the spread and straight up (was wrong with Cleveland game, Patriots win, and Bills loss). This tells me I should consider not making long-range predictions. Simply making picks within a few days of a game seems to be my bag.

I thought 8-8 too, but it's like the "experts" did not realize that Jet's had so many injuries last year and based 2006 predictions off of 2005 - thinking that's what the Jet's would come to the table with next year.

LOL! Here it is an hour later and I now see 10 votes for 10-6, 9-7. There were nine before. That poll is a joke!

I thought we'd struggle because of us playing a defensive scheme that we don't have the players for. The offense picked us up and we had a few more wins than I expected.

Our run defense is horrible, but we fought through it and we're in the playoffs.

dude, these were valid points at the start of the year. of course you can look back and say hahaha, but that doesnt make them dumb, or you smarter.

NT was a position that was really up in the air since we lacked a big, impact, blocker gobbling NT. d-rob has made strides during the course of the year no doubt, but i seem to remember the jets not having much success against the run over the first 1/4-1/3 of the year. even now they will give up some big runs.

it did take JV a while to get acclimated to playing the ILB in the 3-4 scheme. i wouldnt say he has it all nailed down completely just yet, but hes def showing his nose for the ball again...

starting 2 rookies on the O-Line is a big gamble...one that has paid off seeing on how well mangold is able to play center and make the calls he needed to at the nfl level. d'brick has come along nicely at LT, but he isnt dominating anyone...yet.

and the running game was an enormous question mark before game 1, and it is by no means the stregnth of the team as of today. the rb position still needs to be addressed this offseason. leon has played very well, and we have gotten some good yards from houston...but by no means am i content with this tandem to go through all 16 games next year too. we need a featured back (as does any nfl team that wants to have real success on the ground).

as for chad...nobody knew how chad would be. if you sit there and tell me you were confident he would play all 16 games and remain healthy this year...flat out...youre a liar. not even mangini knew how much he would get, and for how long he would get it from pennington.

hindsights 20/20...and there was little wrong with this assessment before the regular season.

I just backtracked to about 140 pages to find my pre-season prediction and im pretty happy with my picks, I picked the jets 9-7. I think im was also basically right about how good our defense would be. Well atleast im better then the so called "experts."
