When did i ever say i was smart enough to be a gm, just because i dont agree with u or Tangini doesnt mean i think im better than them. Sorry i dint know i wasnt entitled to my own opinion.
If it were your own opinion, I'd probably be a little a more optimistic about this conversation. Really this conversation is about: You: I believe ESPN and draft websites Me: I'm going to hold judgement until I see him play football. Bottom line, it's a pointless argument.
So its not my opinion because i agree with someone, i dint know people cant share the same opinion. Isnt that what u are doing with Tangini , u share the same beliefs in why they picked the players they picked and where they picked them.Dont contradict yourself. Why are u mad cause i dare to question where my team picked the players they picked.Am i just supposed to not question anything and just take it. U guys dont do that with other topics on the board why cant I.
It's not your opinion because you haven't express a reason to agree with them. Judging from your posts, I don't expect it either. Basically your entire defense of this "opinion" is because ESPN reporters get paid.
Opinion-A belief or conclusion held with confidence but not substantiated by positive knowledge or proof. It is not a fact, dont u get it, im not telling u a lie its my opinon i dont have to give u a reason on why i think what i think. But since u asked why i believe what i believe ill tell u. Yes i did listen to what ESPN told me, and articles i have read on why i consider them reaches. Alot of people havent heard of Schegal or Eric Smith, so i based that on that they were not good enough to be third rounders.I basically knew most of the players that were chosen on Day 1, but those 2 were not one of them. So i took all of that and concluded on my opinion, not a fact, but simply an opinion. U may not agree on how i got my opinion, but hell thats your "opinion" and your entitled to it.
I'm late, but I have to respond to this condescending drivel. Miami- A first round safety, a guy who has a history of being banged up and is considered a 'tweener, is probably not going to do much to help a team that is worse than mediocre against the run. The Phins may have added (Renaldo Hill-good luck finding even a Phins fan who is excited about that one) but they subtracted Sam Madison. Hill is the poor man's Andre Dyson, a guy who is nothing more than a good fill-in. That's why this EXCITING ACQUISITION is on his third squad in three years. Jason Taylor has been playing for the Dolphins for many years, and judging by our record over that period, he hasn't exactly been much of a Jets killer. I don't think that changes much. New England- "Somehow I think Bill Belichick can replace his kicker and right tackle." By waving a magic wand? Martin Grammatica has not kicked a field goal since 2003, and he was abysmal, in warm, sunny Tampa(61.5). The Pats won 3 games this year where Vinatieri kicked 3 field goals. Gorin was a suitable fill-in last year, but Tom Ashworth was technically sound and disciplined. Oh, and Belichick will "somehow replace" Willie McGinest with... Tully Banta-Cain, a guy who has barely sniffed the field in 3 years? Losing David Givens will hurt a lot, particularly when Deion Branch(one full season in 4 years) misses time due to injury and two FLORIDA receivers have to step in and fill the void. Not exactly promising. Buffalo- "McGahee and Lee Evans are far better than any combo of Jets skill position players"- Well, Evans may be the real deal but I beg to differ as it regards McGahee. McGahee is a back that averaged 3.8 yards a carry last year. He certainly looked good against the Jets, but against the rest of the league, he was a virtual non-factor. 3.8 yards a carry isn't going to win you many Pro Bowl appearances. Cedric Houston averaged 3.7 as a first year starter behind a ramshackle line. I think Mangold and Ferguson will certainly be upgrades to that unit. Curtis Martin was playing with a torn MCL. Lee Evans hasn't done anything to warrant the credit you're giving him. His numbers are only slightly better than Justin McCareins. He may eventually become a nice player, but as of now, he is a young guy who will have to make a major step up in the absence of Eric Moulds, who caught nearly twice as many balls as he did last year. By the way, it can't be stated often enough that KELLY HOLCOMBE is the starting quarterback. As far as the Jets go, the offensive line will be improved. There is more depth at running back and all Ramsey or Pennington will have to do is be slightly better than Bollinger. The defense returns Eric Barton from injury and while I'm not excited about the switch to the 3-4, the unit is more athletic than any unit in the division. The free agent depth acquisitions bring toughness and smarts. John Abraham was very overrated. If you don't recall, this team was a kick away from the AFC championship game a few years ago without him. He was the A-Rod of the Jets, piling up stats in meaningless games and disappearing when it mattered. Overall, while I do not think the Jets are particularly better than any team in the division, it is patently absurd to dismiss this roster as obviously inferior to any of the other teams in the division. -X-
basically its not really your opinion, is what hes trying to say. You've never watched tape on these guys so its not like you know what your talking about. If they would of said, schlegel was a 2nd rounder, thats what you would have believed, if they would have said hes a 7th rounder, thats what you would of believed. So just save us the headache and lets wait until we see these guys play.
That is a way of proven failure to judge draft picks. "Nobodies" break out and prove draftniks wrong every single year. They make sports reporters look like utter fools with regularity. Based on this you will judge the future success of players? Good luck with that.
How can i not share an opinion with someone , i share it with them because they watch tape on these players so i trust them, because that's what they do for a living. No matter what i say it doesnt matter cause u guys are just dont understand where im coming from cause u refuse to even think to second guess the almighty Tangini because they have proven that they know what they are doing even though they have not done anything yet. Hopefully Schegel and Smith turn out to be great but for know i have doubts if thats allright with ya'll.
Look at your definition of opinion: unless I'm mistaked, it's Kiper that has that, not you. You simply agree with him because he gets paid. That's his opinion, not yours.
Just my 2 cents on Mel Kiper there was an interview with somebody from the green bay packers and he had some nice words to say to mel kiper. because when the guy from the green bay packers was drafted mel kiper said that he was the worst draft pick the packers had drafted and i remember him saying he has been with the team as a starter for a few years now. I think mel kiper some type of insight on players but his analysis is far from accurate.
It really was a great breakdown. I guess the bottom line with the NFL is this...show me a team that everyone thinks has finally "hit the next level" and I will show you a team that probably hasnt. Show me a team that everyone says will suck...and I will show you team that come week 14 may still have a chance to make the playoffs. Will it be the Jets? Probably not. Should we be shocked if they "compete" this year...not one bit. The only true guarantee in the NFL this year is that the average Head Coach press conference is 7.2 minutes....up from 4.8 minutes before Herm Edwards became a head coach.
Hahahah... This thread made me laugh... Clearly the author has dillusional opinions... Im not saying we are going to win 9 or 10 games but we are going to be a respectable team... And by this time next year we will be a contender mark my words fellas... We wont need to draft a QB we wont need to draft linebackers, we wont need to draft any offensive lineman, defensive backs, safety's, the only positions we are going to address next year will be the HB position, WR, and DLINE... Mark my words... From this upcoming season alot of players will shock you or fight for starting positions in next years starting 11. This year wil be a year of excitement do to the players we drafted... Mangold will be the starter at center, fergy will be getting closer to what we intended, ramsey will be a good option at QB clemens will be fighting ramsey for the spot, linebackers all will be starting material, defensive line will hold its own although we need to address the future RE spot, our safetys are set, our CB's will be set, and we will be excited.
