I don't give a fuck how bad Geno played nobody have the right to disrespect him. It a fucking game not life or death. Should Smith been benched in that game yes but I also feel Rex should had started Smith the next game.
When each NFL game yields 65,000 fans there's bound to be some who speak their mind paying $200 a seat to sit down below where the players can hear them. To defend Smith for lashing back at a fan is inexcusable and it's simply not professional at all for any NFL player to do that let alone the starting quarterback.
Lol...things are starting to get real sanchezy around these parts. I know sanchez would never do what geno did cursing at a fan.. but the way the fanbase is turning on him all at once just looks all too familiar.
I'd like Geno to sit. Not for anger, but for a breather Kid is on tilt and a turnover machine right now. His poise from pre season and week 1 and half of game 2 2 is gone. He's staring down guys and missing blitz pickups. Other defenses are salivating.
I don't give a shit how much they pay for there seats. If you want to boo him and or call for them to put in Vick that's fine but u don't disrespect anybody. Plus let be fair here Geno has no WR's to throw to and our CB's just plan suck. I'm not saying Geno should not get any of the blame. He young and needs more time.
I'm not talking about on the field production but off the field getting into it with fans is a sign of weakness and should never happen. There's been much worse things said to players like Vick and other players outside of some fan telling Geno he sucks. Don't interact negatively with fans regardless of disrespect. Period. End of story.
To be fair to Geno, since coming to the Jets he's seen this fanbase be nothing but negative nancies whether it was booing/groaning Sanchez after every missed pass in training camp/preseason vs JAX in 2013 and even getting boos during his rookie year and "WE WANT SIMMS" chants. He's really taken a crap load since coming to the NFL, it hasn't been just a 1 time thing. The only thing this fanbase hasn't done yet is cheer when Geno gets hurt and Vick would come in, I can't imagine the response if that happens vs Denver. I remember Pennington getting cheered for sustaining an injury back in 2007 when Kellen Clemens got in for a play. Same for when he got the air taken out of him by Mario Williams vs Houston back in 2006. I would hope we don't let history repeat itself.
Carl Banks said Phil Simms used to do the same thing (go back and forth with fans saying '**** you' and things like that), it's just nobody cared back then cause it wasn't caught on video.
If someone is bitching and moaning at you for the job you're doing at your job do you say f### you to them? No because you'll most likely get fired. Geno's at his job when he's playing and should conduct himself as such. I understand it's hard to weather criticism as an NFL player and Jet fans are among the most brutal to quarterbacks as I think it's disgusting to cheer injuries. That still doesn't excuse him for not acting like a professional.
I didn't hear Geno say anything to the fans, but I certainly heard Rex tell those dickheads the shut the fuck up.
