Well the homers have coalesced around a Blame the Messenger! approach. Most of what I've read in the media criticizes his performance, albeit with some helpings of talk about cursing at fans and missing team meetings. Should those things be off limits for the media to report? Of course not. I read those reports, and Smith did talk about misunderstandings and miscommunications. Maybe he didn't mean to make excuses for his performance using those words, but that is far from clear. Here's the problem - the media is not making him play poorly. There is nothing inaccurate in reports in the media that recount how his performance on the field is unacceptable. So why focus on so-called miscommunication? The fault lies not in the media, Mr. Smith. The fault lies in your shit play.
