He makes one really good point: Mangini has a lot of credibility with his players regardless of his style as long as the Jets keep winning. If the winning goes away he can turn into Bill Belichik in Cleveland in 1995 pretty fast.

Mangini has some charisma. He's not Herm in that regard, but I don't fall asleep when I listen to Mangini like Belichick. He's tough but the players seem to be able to joke around with him.

Plus, losing gets old, no matter what the coach is like.

I'd rather have a coach that doesn't have the charism and take his just lumps when the team loses than a coach that gets a free pass when he loses because he is nice.

Yeah, all of these side stories are getting old. One more week and then we will at least have pre-season games to talk about..and who around the NFL got hurt.

And there it is, my friend. There are now blogggers and digital media sources that make the half-assed jobs these sportswriters are doing obsolete. Yes, they are feeling the pressure. But is it enough pressure to make them sit in the sun trying to analyze the performance of players in camp? And how many of these writers are actually qualified to perform such a task?

jaywayne, I've been missing your posts lately.

You know what I think the poetic beauty thing about the 'Mangenius' label? The fans may have come up with it, but the PRESS were the ones who dubbed him with that label in print and the public. In bold headlines. :)

You make it sound like the winning is random. I prefer to believe it's a product of how Mangini runs the club. If we're losing it doesn't matter if he's a nice guy or an ass, he'll be run out of town. Who wants a coach that keeps everyone onside even when we're going 4-12? What is the earthly use of that.

So long as he does his job well, things will be OK, but it's the same for any coach, regardless of style.

    Hey abyz,

Thanks. Its been a crazy busy year..but thanks for the comment. Have still been following all you guys and girls.

Exactly. Typical second season, honeymoon over and now they have a HC that doesnt play their game...so while there is nothing to judge this year...its pretty safe to go after him with zero substance to their arguement.

I would give their point some merit if they went after the previous head coach of the NYJ'S with a headline "THIS GUY JUST DOESNT KNOW WHEN TO SHUT THE F$#@ UP".

Then I might believe thats its just not sour grapes about actually having to do your homework to come up with an article about the team.

"He could become Tom Coughlin in a New York/New Jersey minute."

    How ridiculous...
