What QBs does he work well with? He basically just stayed out of the way and let Peyton be Peyton en route to an insane year and then... ????

From all accounts, it seems like Gase isn't a homerun in the locker room. There's more evidence of players disliking him than liking him.

    I've read about that.

Much of it seems to stem from Gase supposedly favoring Tannehill.

One article I read also mentioned he could be much better in his second job.

I view Gase as a better candidate than McDaniels would be. You wanna credit Manning for his success in Denver fine I can do the same with McDaniels in New England BUT Gase was a much better HC in Miami than McDaniels was in Denver.

This goes directly against what I've read:

    https://www.miamiherald.com/sports/spt-columns-blogs/armando-salguero/article223850050.html

And there are some other extremely alarming notes on Gase in that piece. I recommend reading it if you want Gase.

Hopefully he yelled at Chris Johnson that he knows nothing about football.

The Miami Herald piece is behind a paywall but here's another that gives a synopsis if you can't see the original. Has problems in the locker room and the board room. His prowess as an offensive guru is belied by his tenure in Miami. Pass.

What if Gase came as a package with Peyton Manning as OC/QB coach, any interest then?

I think Gase is an interesting prospect, and let me start by saying he would probably be about my 7th choice if he wasn't packaged with Manning. But he did make Brock Osweiler look competent for about half the season and that's impressive AF.

But there have been some whispers about Manning perhaps being on his staff, if that was the case he would be a top 3 or better option IMO. The value Manning would bring couldn't be quantified, and he could be a potential safety net if Gase flopped.

I wouldn’t mind having Gase as HC.

Why? What leads you to this conclusion?

I’m not aware of anything Peyton Manning has done outside the lines other than make deplorably embarrassing commercials. Has he ever even had a back up QB say what a help he was?

We don’t know if he can even spell coach.

Gase isn't in my top choices either, but I'd be on board with any option that brings Manning into the vicinity of Sam.

Gase has held the fins back if anything. Till late in this season he went like 17 games w/o a first pos. td. He rid the fins of players who did not buy into his losing system. Robbie Anderson is gone under gase, Gase had control over roster and all coaching decisions and the team got worst each yr. He never won on the road I think he had 1 over win over the last 2 yrs on the road/ Plus the guy has a rex like ego without the results. people are claiming that he tank the season after the miracle win vs new england

I'd rather have McCown as a QB coach than Peyton. Just because a guy was a great player doesn't mean he can coach.

Absolutely true, but he understands the intricacies of the QB position and reading defense better than almost everyone else to ever play the game, if he can impart even a fraction of that knowledge into Sam, it will be for the better.

Plus Sam needs to learn such valuable things as:

    Lol fantasy land.

Yeah Billionaire Peyton Manning wants to start his coaching career at the bottom level. I wouldn’t even offer him Qb coach. MAYBE WR coach.

Maybe we can hire Dick Butkus as strength coach and Bill Walsh as assistant trainer.

How about we bring Ronnie Lott in as Quality Coach.

Terrell Owens a assistant to the media director.

Maybe Rex comes back as ball boy.

What the fuck is wrong with you people?

You hope he gets the job. I know I have brain damage, but I can't help it. You're exposing yourself at every turn. This is purposefully brain damaged a/k/a faking it. What kind of post is this? o_O

After reading this in today's NY Post:

"But Dolphins insiders said things went bad as Gase got power hungry after owner Stephen Ross gave him control over the roster. Gase grew overconfident after early success in Miami on top of what he had done in Denver as the offensive coordinator. The Miami Herald reported this week Gase clashed with Ross over personnel moves. The Herald report states that following the 2016 season, Gase, who had been given leave by Ross to tinker with the roster, decided to go cheap on offense and spend on defense. Ross pointed out the team needed to fill holes at guard, and Gase yelled at Ross about knowing more about football than the owner did. The Herald report quotes sources saying a club official had to intervene and tell Gase he could not speak to Ross like that."

We've just found out that Macc and Bowles butted heads on personnel. Do we really need a guy who believes he's "the smartest guy in the room", and who's ego is so big he feels within his rights to tell his boss he's stupid? I don't think so. Pass.
