The Yankee collapse in the '04 ALCS is way worse. It's not even close. Come on junc, aren't you the one that always claims nothing matters except October?

If they didn't collapse the last 2 years they would ahve been playing in october. The '04 LCS was awful but again b/c of all the success we have had it cushions the blow a bit, they don't have a cushion. Doesn't the sox winning 2 WS help ease the pain of Aaron boone?

Nope, because it would have been 3.

No it isn't. You're talking about 4 games compared to 30 + games over two years...

A team coming back from 0 - 3 was bound to happen eventually... the odds of what the Mets did were far greater

You guys can't be serious, the Yanks losing the ALCS after being up 3-0 is the biggest collapse in MLB history. Mets weren't a very good team this year or last, teams that aren't very good miss the playoffs every year. Last year I guess could be considered a collapse since they were in first place all year but since June they were a .500 team, this year they were in third place all year and their bullpen blew 30 games that they were leading after 7 innings. The Mets weren't a very good team this year or last and didn't deserve to make the playoffs either year, the Yanks were one game from the World Series and lost 4 straight to their arch rivals, it really isn't a comparison.

You need to understand a central trait of Red Sox fans: Everything in their lives as fans is measured against the Yankees. I live in South Boston. I see it every day. The schadenfreude experienced at the expense of the Yankees is their life blood. So of course a Sox fan would think the Yankee collapse was greater.

It MIGHT have been 3, none o the 2 teams you beat had pitching like the marlins had in '03 and as a Sox fan you should be thankful you got one and not still upset that you didn't get a possible 3rd.

As a Cubs fan I feel for the Mets fans out there.

Don't Worry. Now I get to spend a week or two wondering when, not if but when, we will implode.

That was different, much worse Imo,but different. But I've watched the Yankees win plenty and drown the Sox plenty in my lifetime. Our team in 04 was spoiled,at this point i'd expect the Mets to be hungry.

    Can't disagree with you.....

Honestly it pisses me off to no end the way these last two seasons have ended. I guess what would make the Yankees failure worse would be that they likely would have won the WS against the Cardinals. Lets be honest the Mets weren't going to beat the Sox last year (Or the Rockies) and they weren't going to beat the Cubs or any AL team except maybe the Central champ this year.

The thing that alot of Yankee fans fail to realize is that they are extremely lucky to have the bullpen they do. They always did through this last dynasty and they still have one of the best in the game. There isn't much I'd trade with the Yankees but if the Mets had the Yankees bullpen the last 2 years this thread wouldn't even exist.
