The point is the 06 team was a bunch of cupcakes and by getting in the playoffs that fact was missed. If the Jets were bad in 06 they would have approached the Draft and Free Agency differently. First of all there would have not been a need to trade up for Revis or Harris because we could have gotten them where we picked and we could have kept the picks we traded away. The way the whole Kendall fiasco was handled was just a bad scene all the way around. Who were these people that were thinking the division was within our grasp after the Pats went out and got Randy Moss, Adelius Thomas, Wes Welker and Junior Seau? Apparently their strategy reflected a team that though they could Beat the pats in 2007. I see what has been done to improve the team and with the exception of Faneca and Jenkins all other moves are question marks. They got a clue but did they get the talent. I will agree with you that this is a young regime and they are learning and have seemed to have learned from their mistakes but the question is did they properly fill the holes that were there. Lets see if they learned the difference between spending money wisely and filling holes. Only time will tell I guess. Im cautiously optomistic that they did ok.
Ftr first news of the Kendall deal broke in mid winter last year, not in camp. And Kendall says the issue was raised and not responded to several weeks before it hit the papers. Yeah, it dragged on into camp, but it had been brewing for quite awhile.
Ok. Thanks for the clear up. In that case I was wrong and the FO really messed that up. I think they learned if you're going to get rid of a starter, have one ready to replace him.
They may have thought that Kendall would fold, stay with the team and play. But that was a high wire act that did not work out. Unfortunately there was no safety net, no plan B. Always have a plan B.
Nope, sorry, not me. I don't let myself get so pissed off I have to come to a message board and curse off the owners, players, coaches, and basically act like the world is going to end because the team I root for just lost....a game. A game, that's all it is. Do I get disappointed? Sure, that's understandable. But getting as pissed off as some people here do? Nope, not going to happen to me. People that get all worked up over their team losing really need to step back and realize that there are more important things in life than whether your team wins or loses.
No it wasn't, it was ignored. Some people you wouldn't consider "honest football fans" even brought this up heading into '07. Probably moreso for the draft, but not in anyway significant IMHO. I seriously can't wrap my apparently tiny brain around the idea that this Kendall situation is somehow significant enough to bitch about to this day. It's like...'07's done...Kendalls gone...Clarkes gone...we've replaced him with one of the leagues best...WTF are people still complaining about this for? I'm pretty sure the coaching staff learned their lesson, and they didn't look like bitches in the process. Dumbys. Or dummies. Or dumbies. W/e it's spelt like. Not that I disagree with you...but we beat 'em once in '06 and we played them tougher than most in our second meeting this year...and I still really wish people would stop clinging to '07 like it seriously throws anything off in the future.
Dear DWare, I think that Mr. Brady has hit on an interesting sand grain in the Pat's shell, and a thorn in the paw of the Pat's as well. The NYJs are in the best position to ruin the Pats, because they want to beat them the worst, and because they know them and what they like to do pretty damned well. The NYJs will get the Pats' number. If not this year, then it will happen next year. The NYJs will ruin the Pats' dynasty. It's written in the stars over the Meadowlands. If Mangini and Tannenbaum are even half right, it just might be that Mr. Brady will never see the SB again (unless he pays for a ticket). I would say that the Pats are doomed to be dogged into mediocrity once again by those lowly ne'er-do-wells, in the Swamp across the Hudson.
