He's right but it also looks like they are discussing the McNabb trade and not his situation since AZ doesn't play us again until 2011 while McNabb will face Philly twice a year.
And I can agree with that. But let's not say that Feely wasn't solid for us last year. Personally I don't think we should penny pinch on a position that's been solid for the most part of the year. I say if an upgrade is out there, you get him. If there isn't one, u solidify that position and try to bring them back. In this case, it sounds like we're regressing rather than moving forward. But all of this is a moot point now because he's gone. I'll be rooting for Folk from here on out.
^That pretty much says it all. He was 30-36 (I think) in the regular season with a few botched snaps to go along with that (OT in BUF; one or even 2 vs Falcons). So he was definitely a stud/money for us - plus the intangibles. One of the kicks at the AFC game was hurried as well if I remember. Even if you hold him accountable for both those kicks, the 6 points would not have changed the Win/Loss column. The RB situation in the 2nd half sealed our fate and 6 points would not have changed the outcome, or even momentum for that matter. Peyton was on fire and was ridiculously accurate. Anyways, the Feely-Jets era is over so begins the Folk/Rackers (maybe) -Jets era and those are the people I will be rooting for. I hope all this penny pinching allows the FO to lock down our core players. I'd hate to lose some really good players/personalities (Feely, Jones) and not have our cornerstones players retained after these losses.
Free Agent Now I know why the Jets let Feely go, they wanted to sign at least one Free Agent and with his 1.5 million contract, he was the obvious choice. If we were not hindered by the final four rule, I am confident we would have signed Feely. Now we get Taylor or Burnell in place of him. At least I know why we did what we did.:finssuck:
I don't agree with the Leon comparison. If they wanted him signed but someone else, they would have tendered a 3rd, not a 2nd. We missed Leon big time on kickoffs overall and I hope he comes back 100 %
Not a viable comparison. Leon would bring us a draft pick, but no compensation as far as signing a UFA is concerned. The Leon tender was more about establishing real value for contract negotiations with Alvin Keels. Sure, there was some component of trying to get something while we could for Leon, but the primary motive was setting his market value one way or another.
I don't think so, for a couple reasons. 1) If they would have tendered him at a 3 it would have raised suspicion on why they were so eager to be rid of a guy coming back from catastrophic injury. 2) If Leon is able to fully recover, he's worth more than a 3rd round pick. Leon is a possible win-win situation. If we lose him, we get very nice compensation, and lose the risk. If we retain him, we have a chance to have an electric player back with the team. The only way this doesn't work in the Jets' favor is if he comes back but is not himself anymore.
