Actually -- he is a parcells fan. Anyway, I am actually a fan of Mike and the Dog. (Ive heard all the complaints about them -- many true). They still do the best interviews of former coaches/players than anyone -- no one is even close. The one thing though about Mike though -- is that if he likes someone in the organziation -- it colors his thoughts. He is NOT a Met fan -- but he is tight with Omar. And he is NOT a Jet fan but he has known Tannenbaum for a long time. When he likes the guys -- he is usually a little kinder to the team. (Mike and the Dog still cover the Yankees and the Giants much more than the Jets/Mets--but then again so does the Post -- who relegated the jets to a green banner all season).
Now if the Post gave us the same % of coverage that they gave Cannizzaro in foot allowance against the Giants Beat Reporter, we'd be SET!
It's not even a question of him being a leader... It's if he even wants to be there. By season's end his body language made it look like he'd rather be ANYWHERE but in that Giants uniform. The guy has talent..but at this point..you hafta question his intangibles, willingness to improve and will to succeed. And when those type of questions involve a QB..it can be a very scary notion for the given franchise..
