interesting.... yeh i live in nyc and i would say its about even. actaully in brooklyn i would say the giants are just as popular if not more than the jets. a lot of italians seem to like them (maybe its the blue). all i know is that conneticut has gotta be all giants. they just ballhug other st ates teams... i mean who can they root for... uconn bball? oh i forgot about the sun :rofl2:
So, I see that you know my brother-in-law! One difference is that he only really "roots" for the Giants when they are good. When they are winning, all I hear about is Shockey. Great post. TBTF
The Moral of the story is don't go spouting off about how good your team is and how they are better than the other NY team after watching them beat some of the easier teams in the league... In the end you can very well look like schmuck.... Like Met fans. The Jets beat two of the supposed bottom 5 teams in the league. Let's be better than Met fans and be a bit more realistic.
it's simply not true. i go to plenty of bars located in brooklyn and manhattan, and it seems to me there are def. more Jets fans in NY. When I walk the streets more often than not I see people wearing Jets jersey's than Giant's, this is all year round even. It's not a knock on Giant's fans at all, maybe they just don't show there colors as proudly. I do happen to know someone though whom lives in NJ, and he is the biggest Giant's fan ever! Maybe football fan I've ever seen. His entire house is like a breathing football memrobilia. He actaully came over from Ireland in the 60's and tried out for the Jets as a kicker. After not making it, he resorted to the Giant's, and I believe briefly kicked for them. The thing about this situation is that many people from NY have moved to NJ in the past 30 years. I will agree that sadly the Yankees have a much louder fan base, than the Mets, whether or not they are true fans, I'll leave that up to you. But in tandem with people moving out of the city, plenty of more people also commute in, and others come from other places in the country and world. And most likely they root for what 'they' believe is the most popular team, based off of their current winning status. Sadly for baseball though, the Mets could win then next ten Championships, and the Yankees would get all the press. ehh..such is life being a Jets, Mets, Knicks, Rangers, Cyclones fan.
I live, work, and have gone to school in NJ (close to Giants stadium), and in my experiences, the ratio of Giants-Jets fans has been roughly 70% - 30%, in heavy favor of the Giants. It's usually just me and maybe one other guy that are the Jets fans in the department. I wonder if the thing about Giants fans being more white collar is true - it might be....
