We need a QB for the future and whether that guy is Leinart, Young, Cutler, Croyle, or anyone else that we could draft...we're not set on Ramsey being an effective backup, well I'm not atleast.

I have to disagree, i do not feel very confident going into this season with an injured QB and a mediocre at best QB.
I would love to see Chad get to 100% and play like he did when he first took over for Vinny, but the reality is he has had major shoulder surgeries. and i hope Ramsey never sees the field unless it is to take a knee and the end of the 4th.
We have the #4 draft pick and there are good QB's coming out, we should grab one.

I like Brodie Croyle. Plain and simple. I don't see why we wouldn't take him. If we don't trade up for Leinart which is what I'd really like, I figure we'll take D'Brick and the way it SEEMS it looks like we want another 1st rd pick for Abe. So we take D'brick with the #4 (I dont like that but its needed) then with either the 15th or 31st we can pick up a RB in Addai, White, Williams and since we seem to like Katnick as center why not take Croyle early in the 2nd rd? If Chad is not the same then Ramsey steps in and I doubt he makes a huge difference and we give Croyle a shot. I think he can do it and its not as huge a risk.

at times croyle looked good, but still there were many times this year when Alabama's D was really winning games for them and the O was struggling. Not totally sold on croyle, but like i said there were times he looked good. With good coaching and experience maybe he'll be good

Matt Leinart or bust...Matt is the perfect fit for the New York Jets. We need someone to build around and Matt Leinart would be a great starting point...

    Go get Leinart!

1,000% agree with you... if we didn't get Ramsey I'd even say let Jay come back and play

If we pay 2 first rounders to move up to number 2# I can guarentte you that we will be in the toilet for the next 4 years because that would mean that our managemant dropped tha ball so far we could not recover, no credibilty what so ever

Penny and Ramsey are here for this year to compete for the starting job this year...after this year alot of Jets fans want a new QB to take over...

D'Brick would be nice, but I would prefer a trade up for Leinart...time to be bold and get our QB...

Don't be friggin' silly. How long would Leinart last with the O line where it is? First priority is to plugging those holes, otherwise Superman could be under centre and he would still be getting hammered.

I agree, but those holes are at RT and C, not LT where Brick plays.

I agree that will will most likely not get D'Brick, because D'Brick D'ont fill D'Holes in D Offensive line.

At this point, I really do not think we are drafting a QB at all. Why? It is simple. We have 3 QB's. If we draft a forth in the 1st round we have completely over-bought the position. There is no way the FO will do that. None.

I can see their strategy so far has been about coveting picks. They only gave up a 6th rounder for Ramsey which really does not put a dent in the armor. As for Abraham, a deal will very likely get done, but on the Jets terms, not Abraham's. Abraham is mistaken if he thinks it should work out that way. My gut seems to tell me that the Falcons will up the ante. Does that mean they give us their first round pick? Realistically, they should. It could easily be argued that Abe is worth the #15 pick. Why? He was drafted #13 with no NFL experience. Now he has a prooven history and people can actually see what they are gettting and the potential help for the team.

My only caveat on the Abe deal. I think the FO may have made a tactical error by agreeing to trade terms with Seattle for the #31 pick. They should have held out For the #31 pick and a thrid round selection. It would solidify their case with the Falcons for the #15 spot. We will see how this goes. It sure has grinded gears about as bad and as loud as it can get. If a trade does not get done I could see Abraham filing a greivance with the NFL and totally sitting out of training camp. But, as it were, Mangini will have the last laugh because if Abraham does do that he will probably not play. This would hurt Abe in the pocketbook for the following year even though we get nothing for him. All in all, a pretty crappy situation; one, BTW, that Abraham created on his own.

Back to the draft: Ideally, I think we should definitely trade down, but not so far that it removes options from the table. We will probably not know until draft day if this is going to happen. I do not see the Jets trading down into the Vikings spot.

I think the Jets will almost inveriably go defense with their pick. I am thinking AJ Hawk or Ngata; something like that. If we do secure Atlanta's first round pick, we could conceiveably draft a running back, but again, I do not know if I would bet on it.

I think trading up is out fo the question. It is tempting as hell, but it puts the team in a hole for the 2006 season.

Aside: My take on Ramsey. He is the product of a round hole being coached by 2 square pegs. He simply did not fit into the Spurrier or the Gibbs system.

Believe it or not, I do have a source.........Ha. Hornet with a source......it's funny. Ramsey is supposed to have a very strong arm. That is good. He is anxious to come to NY and compete. What he lacks right know is a bit of confidence because of what he has had to deal with in D.C. This is understandable, but with good coaching, and this is where we find out how good our coach and OC really is, we could be pleasantly surprized by Ramsey. All in all, I think the decision to get him was very smart.

I think if anyone from TGG goes to Jets training camp, the buzz will be how impressed they are with Ramsey's arm.

You just seem to struggle with the word stop gap.. if the jets thought ramsey is there future why dont they extend his contract even a year? wait till he becomes this hot commodity and lose him for nothing? lol jets arent thinking of ramsey as there future both ramsey and pennington could be gone by next year. brooks could be gone by this year depending on if pennington is even able make his comeback. im glad you have your sources but even the the so callled nfl "experts" sources have been wrong on many occaisions this offseason alone.noone know what jets are doing... this has been the most tight lipped team in the league this offseason.

the jets have scheduled visits with the 3 big qbs... i know this could mean anything. but if we were looking else where why would we want visits from leinart, young, and cutler?. and even setup a private workout with leinart?

Right now the Saints can get the most from the Jets for that spot if the Jets offer their two first rounders. No other team (no Denver Broncos) has two picks in the first round and they very well may be packaged together...that is the best deal on the table for Leinart...though I wouldn't be upset if we kept them both and addressed the Oline with Mangold or MJG at 29.
