I think it's less about the spread and more about making some easy throws early so that the defense can't pin their ears back and rush like crazy. We did it vs. the Jags in our opening drive. Then went down 13-7 and whether it be Sam or Gase and the playcalling, we tried to hit the elusive 21 point touchdown play. Stay with the short game. Get creative with where Bell gets the ball. Spread him out and put Montgomery in the backfield. Throw a couple quick screens line the Cardinals have done so far to neutralize the pass rush. Overall you can still spread the defense out in the shotgun and protect the quarterback. And for the record. For the life of this franchise; we've NEVER been able to run those horizontal wide receiver screens. And it's so frustrating. A couple here and there with Enunwa over the last couple years and that's it.
