I'm not against the decision at all. I was happy the Jets got a 1st rounder, and saved alot of cap space. I was for the move...

But i'm not gonna sit here and gloat now that he's hurt, oh the Jets made the right decision...I mean, after his game Sunday(Before we knew about injury) their was a thread on how the Jets messed up not keeping Abraham...Now theyr'e quiet.

SALARY CAP - made more sense to deal Abe. Plus, with additions to the OL, Chad has a better chance of surviving a season.

I love the Mangold pick. I remember before the draft I was sleeping in a McDonalds and talking with other Jets fans and I said I wanted Mangold in the late first. They said if we picked him they would boo. These guys were idiots and I didn't hear one boo when we took the 2nd best lineman in the draft after we had gotten the best.

Yea, it's their choice to play or not. You're right. But then they also shouldn't choose to bitch about being owed a big contract when their number of "sick" days exceeds the allotment or to hold out of training camp even after they've been designated the team's Franchise player and guaranteed the average of the top 5 players at his position the next year.

I miss his four multiple sack games a year. That's about it. You can keep the other crap.

Chad had a contract and we didn't release him because by renegiotating with him it gave us cap space. It made perfect sense to save the cap money and let him compete for the job. Keeping Abe would have cost us over 8 million against the cap.

Unlike the previous Jets management these guys have a clue.

Why didn't you say "This is a contract sport?"

My God, you are easily the worst poster on this boards. Pennington's injuries were broken bones and major tears to his throwing arm all requiring surgery. He played through pain at the risk of further ruining his career. Given the nature of CP's injuries it is entirely possible he never gets a serious injury again. Abraham's injuries were not serious enough to require surgery (I think I am right on this, but someone can correct me if I am wrong). He never attempted to play though them. If everything is not "just right", Abe sits. Pennington needs to be restrained from playing.

Pennington = Heart, guts, and toughness
Abraham = Talent, selfishness, and fear

I'll take my chances with the first one.

Mawae was being released regardless of what happened with Abraham. He was aging fast and not the player he once was. The Oline was the biggest need on the team before the draft. And that includes Center. The line needed an infusion of talent and youth, thanks to the state your boy Herm and Bradway left it. Add to that the distruption that Mawae was going to stir up being a player rep, during Magini's tougher camps.

And John Abraham was going to be gone sooner or later, regardless of what happened to Mawae. He was injury prone, shot his mouth off, and had a history of behavorial problems. NOT the type of player the new FO wanted. His exit was inevitable.

So to say Mawae and Abraham for Mangold, is twisting the facts and only looking at half the story. Which from you, isn't unusual.

By the way, how is Herm doing in KC?

I feel bad for Abe. He is a superb athlete. But then again he doesnt play for the jets anymore and for some reason he cant stay healthy.

Jet fans sometimes we are so ignorant. So what happens if Mangold starts getting injured every season but still plays well, will we cry that this was a bad trade? The guy is gone, whether or not he is injured doesnt prove a point about anything. He is an awesome player who has gotten injured a lot, but look at our current QB, he is "stealing money " from us.If Chad doesnt miss any games this season it will be a miracle, Chad=Abe , without as much talent.

Pennington=leader with heart, plays through injuries and wins (SD playoff game), good chance that he never gets injured again, but even if he does, he gave up salary to stay on the team. You do that and I admit I'm wrong about you and I want you to succeed. The injuries shook us at Jets fans, but the man just proved he was a legit guy afterwards, and theres a great chance he won't get injured again with the types of injuries he's gotten. Remember also he added about 15 pounds of muscle just to prevent injuries.

Abe=not a leader, not even a team player. Either won't play at all with injuries, or when trying to avoid injuries is extremely ineffective. Demands higher salaries. Has done nothing to lower his injury risk.

There is a world of difference between these two.

Mangold has nothing to do with Abraham. Abe is an awesome that will not play through a hang nail. Chad GAVE MONEY BACK to help with the cap. Abe is already going to be missing games, and unless something snaps in half, we already know Chad plays through pain.

    Chad >>> Abe
