Unless you are out in Times Square, most places you could be would have a tv. Bar, house party, etc. The game's not going to be played at the stroke of midnight. You watch football while drinking and then you have about an hour prior to the ball dropping. It's worked out perfectly for me through the years. The best college football game I ever saw was played on New Year's Eve (Independence Bowl, 2000). Rams-Saints on Monday Night Football (in either 1989 or 1990)- excellent game. Both times I enjoyed a football game and it didn't interfere with my other plans.
I'm with Dino - I'd be pissed if the Jets were playing that night. The party I go to every year does not have a TV in the room where everyone hangs out, drinks, and talks, so I would either have to keep ducking out, or just miss out on the the whole point of hanging with friends. I would much rather be celebrating the Jets having made the playoffs that afternoon.
Chrismas Night is almost a strech. I'll be able to get home by 8:30 but if it was the afternoon game (Is there one?) then I'd be pissed.
If the Raiders game is for the playoffs and they move it to Sunday night I will be pissed! I have two kids, and babysitting is not normally a problem, but that night it sure will be. Aside from that, my wife and I will be in the car coming home at midnight after the game, which would really be ridiculous. The NFL has to make this a west coast game.
I have been trying to figure this game out. I am going to the game and then I am going to the city afterwards for moe. at radio city. I doubt highly it gets moved. We might need help getting into the playoffs if thats the case this game might be meaningless. They will pick a game with a team they know for sure needs to win to get in
I was just looking at the schedule and I am now 90% sure they wont move the game. Nbc has the monday xmass 5:00 eagles vs cowboys game. They will want to promote the late nye game during that game. That will force them away from the jets becuase they wont know if the jets game is meaningful until after they play
4pm I do not think we will be moved to 8pm, but we could be moved to 4:15, especially considering that the Raiders play on the west coast.
Its a damn good thing my extended family is either jets/dolphin fans, otherwise there would be no chance in hell i could see the game. And i SHOULD be at the game, but me and my dad got outvoted...women.... As for a new years game, i would hate it if the jets had to play the night game, theres no way i could watch the game, and enjoy my evening.
I thought so too, but on the radio post-game last Sunday they said there were rumors that the Jets/Raiders could be moved if the Jets are in a must win situation and they would make the decision at the last minute. Who knows for sure, but that's what they said after Sunday's game.
Well -- there are two games to be moved. One to 8 and one to 4:15. The 4:15 has to be a CBS game, I think. The choices are for CBS are: Jax/KC; NE/TN; PITT/CINCY; Buff/Balt; Miami/Indy; Oak/Jets; Pitt cincy. For the night game add in Atlanta/Philly and St. Louis/Minny It would seem to me that CBS will take the Jax/KC game, if NBC doesnt take it first. I suppose its just too early to tell. It doesnt look like the Jet game is in the top 2 of "playoff implication" games.
sorry for the off topic but I dont have enough post's to start a new thread. the jets have a brutal schedule next year with the resurgence of the afce pats 2x dol 2x bills 2x pitt cinci balt clev wash giants dal philly denver jacksonville if someone wants to start a thread with this feel free
We will worry about next year once this year is over. Besides, who knows what place we will end up. Think Miami, and only Miami
I guess. The NFC East is probably the best of the NFC. The AFC North is very good. BUT truth is each division has three good teams (now that Tenn looks like its going to be good). Having Jax and Den as the two "floating" games is not fun either.
if jets win the division then the float games will be san diego and indy, not much of a difference between 1st and 2nd place as far as the schedule goes
This type of talk needs to stop. How many fans whose team had the Redskins and Buccaneers on their schedules were scared of those games in August? I remember having an argument with Jetfanmack about how Baltimore would win in Tampa Bay in Week 1, no doubt about it. He argued that Baltimore wasn't that good and said Tampa Bay was good. It's foolish to look at the Jets 2007 opponents and say things like, "oh, next year's schedule is brutal." Aside from maybe a couple of those teams, like maybe the Patriots and Bengals, we have no real good idea which teams will be good in 2007. Free agency, the draft, coaching changes, injuries, etc. The Steelers game in 2007? Bill Cowher might not be the coach. You see what I'm saying?
Packers-Bears on Sunday night. The idea with this is the Giants lose on Saturday. This would make the Packers game relevant.
