actually these were the stats (Fitz's stats) i had on the table for Geno coming into this year. His break out season. Unfortunetly his jaw was the only break out he had. sadderday.

Oh well. Fitz is doing it so i'm still happy

McCown got 3 years at average of $4.66M a year. Why am I looking at what he got?

Your own post said 2 years $10-$13M, that is $5-$6.5M a year, which would be 40-80% raise above his current contract. He is a 34 year old QB and while I am pleasantly surprised by his play this year I don't think it warrants a $20-$26M contract and I am pretty sure he is not expecting that much. Especially since this may be the first year he has made the playoffs if they do even get there.

Edit: Will be 34 next year

Did you actually use quality and Geno in the same sentence?

I mean just cause your predicted it doesn't mean it would happen. 25 TD 11 INT for Geno would be absolutely mind blowing coming from him.

    obviously...

And i don't think it would be mind blowing because he has the tools to do it.. but whatever it is what it is honestly i'm not against Fitz at all

No, he's missing the most important tool.

I think the general perception of Geno is that he's a slightly better QB than Tebow and he can never be more than what he's shown up to this point.

and most young QB's are. Growth and development.

I'm all about Fitz and Bryce now though. I've been that way since the Redskins game i'm sticking to it.

That's what it looks like to me. He can throw but "he's too dumb" so he'll never improve and they don't see how he can ever be a functional QB.

Geno had his chance this year and did not take advantage of it. When the coaches watched the game film of that game they decided a one handed Fitz was better than a healthy Geno. That says all we need to know about him and his future with the team.

The Jets will not keep Fitz, Geno and Petty.

lmao. Yup because Geno was just so god awful that game. stop making stuff up.

Fitz played like shit vs Houston and Buffalo.. Why couldn't it just be that the coaching staff knew before Fitz got the surgery that he would be able to play the next game? B/c thats what was reported. Unless you got the inside scoop with coaches where did u see that they watched the film and decided Geno was never to see the field again? i'll wait.

thats a very good way of looking at it. You are right- its very, very unlikely they would bring back all 3 guys to the season opening roster next season. Two reasons:

    1) it would limit any chance of acquiring any other young QB. You aren't keeping 4 so if you want to work in a different guy something's got to budge
    2) keeping 3 on the 53 man roster is too many anyway. In an ideal world you would have your starter and your developmental QB would either be on the practice squad or ready to take the reigns as a backup on the active roster. There wouldn't be a 3rd guy. allows you to stack depth at other positions.

Because Petty is under a longer term favorable contract and he's the developmental QB it stands to reason that he is a lock for the roster next year. That would leave it between Smith and Fitzpatrick and we can all see where that one is trending. At this point I would be quite surprised if Smith is on the active roster week 1 in 2016. I think there is a decent chance he could be cut before training camp if they want to be nice and give him the opportunity to have a better chance somewhere else.

If Fitzpatrick resigns though, and Petty shows ANY progress you'd have to think Geno Smith would be one of the training camp roster cuts. The 3 QBs on the roster we have now is not ideal and its only in place because Petty wasn't ready but too good for the practice squad
