while this seems accurate, we also might be facing 3 of the better defenses we will play all year. he threw 4 TDs combined in the prior meetings with NE/Buf. if he matched that the second time around its a lock. hard to say though, 2 late cold weather games vs. division rivals
true, but 2 of the 3 defenses (Dallas and Buffalo) will have nothing to play for and NE will have the division wrapped up by the time they see us. Not like we'll be playing desperate teams. Who knows where their motivation will be.
Right now Fitz is tied with Testeverde ,He has 29 TDs one more and he takes the record!!!Who saw this coming?Imagine betting on this before the season started....
Could have folded his tent after the fumble and we would have said same old Jets but instead went out and won the game, can't give him enough credit
the most impressive thing to me is he's finding different guys to win. last week it was tompkins to setup the win, this week enuwa. marshall and decker are huge but fitz is finding the open guy. btw, is 1985 rooting for no passing TD's this week?
Fitzpatrick during the 5 game win streak: 203 Passes Attempted, 131 Completed, 64.5 Comp Pct, 13 TD's, 2 Turnovers. Average game: 40.6 Passes Attempted, 26.2 Completed, 305 Passing Yards Per Game, 2.6 TD's, 0.4 Turnovers. Marshall during the 5 game win streak: 39 Receptions, 576 Yards, 14.8 Yards Per Catch, 6 TD's, 0 Turnovers. Average Game: 7.8 Receptions, 115.2 Yards Per Game, 1.2 TD's, 0 Turnovers.
Fitz has been amazing. The guy needs to be locked after this season. The chemistry he has with Marshall and Decker is great. I'm 26 and it's the best receiving tandem I've seen. It's superior to Keyshawn and Chrebet. Fitzpatrick still struggles throwing the deep ball but that's really nitpicking at this point. The guy doesn't have to have a good deep ball to be successful. What's amazing to me is that the Jets offense is operating this well with a below average offensive line. It speaks volumes to Fizpatrick's awareness in the pocket and how quickly he has been able to get rid of the ball.
Whats the pricetag for Fitz? If it's $8-10 mil, do you bring him back? I say you have to. In this QB market, that's a fair number. The problem is we have to cut bait somewhere. Cro I think is an easy and automatic cut, but then who? I think we have to let Ivory walk and hope for Zeke Elliott or some type of bruiser RB in the draft. Try to restructure with Brick or Mangold? Gonna be tough.
I suggested 2 years $10 mill a month ago. Now I'd say 2 year $14 mill. It's a fair price. Still have cap space after that.
Let's see how the Jets do in the playoffs if they get there. That's going to effect his price. If he is looking for a 2 year deal then it's almost a no-brainer even if it's at $20-ish million over the two years. If the Jets win a Super Bowl, well that's what he's looking for and the question is how steep the price gets above that.
when will everyone refrain from using the statement "SOJ?" This is not an attack on your statement, just my feeling that at 10-5 and all this true excitement in the air, do we need to drag this up time and again?
Cro is most likely a goner (hope Milliner steps up?) and Brick has to be restructured. I haven't looked at Jets cap in a while but Brick should be a candidate for a restructure and I'd like to get rid of Breno if that makes sense from a financial standpoint as well.
From that its looking like $5 mio a year guaranteed money for Fitz. Currently he is at $2 mio. Seems very fair.
Not a chance in hell Fitz makes 10M a season ... even if it's a 2 year contract. 5M sounds reasonable considering he has a good OC, and the best WR tandem in the league. If I am a 33 year old QB, with one last chance to win the big one, I am not going to take a 10M dollar contract and put the team in a shitty situation.
Getting rid of Breno really does nothing. Basically the only thing that we can do to save money is cut Cro before June 1 and we would save $8 mil. Right now Skrine has a base guaranteed salary of $6.5 mil... I'd assume that gets broken up into bonuses to open up cap room as well. Other than that... no real cap casualties unless we do something stupid like cut Marshall, Revis, Mangold or Ferguson. We also have no RBs under contract next season. Keep that in mind.
