Well...we better freakin' figure shit out quick...not that it applies but the 49'ers just traded Vernon Davis to the Broncos...so if this team is going to do something at the QB position it better shit or get off the pot...NOW. Oh, and trotting out Geno Smith, in my humble opinion, is NOT doing something.

The left hand is important and he has ligament damage. if he opts for surgery it'll be 4-6 weeks. If not he could try to wait it out but risks being out even longer. It's not an injury he can just tape up

It may be better for one game for the fans or Jets short term, but probably not for Petty or for the Jets long term. Playing Petty at this point is probably the worst thing they could do, particularly with Mangold hurt. You want to get Petty killed before he even gets a chance to show what he can do? He's not ready. He's probably had zero snaps since the season began. He's still learning the offense and adjusting to the NFL. No freaking way he should see the field. They need to err on the side of caution, not have the attitude, "Oh it's only one game, it probably won't hurt him any." There's no emergency so big that he should play. Flynn or Johnson should be signed and played if Geno can't go. I don't expect Fitz to be able to play, but if he can, then he should start.

I'm guessing Petty doesn't see the field unless it's a garbage time win or loss appearance but in that unlikely scenario, I'll say one Petty sucks thread that gets bumped a couple of times.

And now that I've said that, I'm sure some turtle-dicked Chihuahuas from another forum will start 10 of them under fake accounts to spite me.

6 is probably high, even for Geno. I'd say Under. I'd go under on Petty, as well. Fitz at 2 would be a "no play" for me.

That was me before 2000. I gave up basketball for years, but the Silver and Black won me over after living in their city for a number of years.

I couldn't help myself. They are just a class team up and down.

I really can't see Fitz playing sunday and then we have a short week afterwards so I don't see him being able to play until after the Buffalo game. I think we'll see Geno Smith next 2 weeks unfortunately. That means Fitzpatrick back for the Houston road game. Hopefully he won't be coming back to a 4-5 football team

This is my guess, as well. And it really fucking sucks. Because this is a critical juncture in the schedule for us if we want to make the playoffs. IMO, we need to be 7-3 going into our rematch with the Dolphins.

when you put it like that now I don't want Petty to start either, I didn't want them to rush him at all but I see this "one" game against the Jags as a nice team to start him against especially since Fitz will more then likely be back for the Bills......

And have their number 1 WR hurt each foot on two different plays.

Geno playing the next two weeks isn't the worst thing in the world. It can be viewed as a positive. For one thing, with Mangold out, it protects Fitz from a more serious injury the next couple of weeks, and should serve to keep Fitz fresher and healthier for the rest of the season. It will give Mac, Bowles and Gailey the time they need to remove any doubts on whether or not they should still consider him as their possible QB of the future (if any still exist) and whether or not they keep him next year. Getting Petty some first team reps in practice won't hurt and can only help him and the Jets evaluate his progress. The key is not giving into temptation or panicking and starting him if he looks pretty good. Finally, if the Jets sign Johnson or Flynn, it will probably mean they finally get rid of Bowen.

IMO making the playoffs this season will be gravy. Before the season began, most of us thought we could compete for a playoff spot, but at best would win the wildcard. With a rookie HC, new systems and a lot of new players, most of us just wanted to see improved talent, play and coaching. We've seen that and it has given us hope for the future. There is absolutely NO reason to panic and throw Petty to the wolves or making ridiculous trades to try to insure we make the playoffs. Some of you need to get a grip on reality and quit living in your fantasy world.
