whatever happened to signing a contract? players/agent always want to "renegotiate" which means "I want more money." Why not renegotiate down when they have a bad year? Oh, and of course the player will want to be paid if he gets hurt, won't he?
Clement isn't horrible...He's serviceable and decent...Can't really complain about his play last season.
What's next, our long snapper asking for a raise? This guy has nuts. He should count his lucky stars that he's starting on a good NFL team.
Clement is only servicable if he can plant his feet. When he is up against more agile DTs and he has to move his feet to gain leverage and open up lanes, he is horrible. The right side of the line is the biggest reason the run game sucked last year, and Moore and Clement are back again. I am just hope TJ can be a bandaid until the right side can be addressed next year during the offseason.
Seriousley. I started LMAO when I read the title of this thread. Out of all the players on the team Moore is probably the last one who should be unhappy with his contract.
Come on guys, I think you're all forgetting that he was crucial in Brick and Mangold's development.. JK, but wow. Before you know it, we'll bring back JP machado and he'll hold out too.
I know I'm in the minority on this one, but Moore has some very valid points. Yes, he is a below-average starting guard in this league, however, with a $109 million salary cap (averages to more than $2 mil per player on a 53-man roster), a starting guard on a non-rookie contract $1 million is underpaid. With the way the market has exploded, I can't blame a lot of these players for being frustrated with his contract. If he became a free agent, he would get more than what his remaining contract pays him. Also, unlike Kendell, this is a 4-year old contract, while Kendell got a pay increase last year through his restructuring. That said, this is the dangers of wanting the security of a long-term contract. There is a very good chance that a 5-7 year contract will become obsolete after a few years. He chose not to take the risk of waiting it out until free agency a few years ago. I'm not saying he deserves a new contract (no one forced him to sign his current deal), but I think he makes a solid argument. Also, to the people who are using this and Kendell as signs of cracks in the Magini/Tannenbaum regime, there are plenty of players all over the league that are unhappy with their contracts, especially after the craziness of last year's free agency.
In addition Brick and Mangold are getting big $$$. Kendall and Moore want a piece of the action. Clement's just happy to be there after being released and resigned.
Just for the record, but the Cardinals are returning ONE guy at his starting OL position from last season, and he's in his 2nd year. Yes, we were spoiled by having an awesome OL for years, but welcome to reality! With that said... Moore is 100% out of line on this one. I think that's called greed matey. You deserve more money when you play to a level that commands more money, not by just turning up.
I think he was trying to downplay it with that statement. Make it a no big deal thing. Especially when he went on to say "I wish you guys would come asking to talk to me about how good I'm playing." And besides, he's right. Whether you play football or pump gas everybody would like a little more money. He hasn't been disruptive about it. This isn't Kendall.
If the AVERAGE over 53 players is about 2 million apiece, then where does the 5 and 6 million a year contract money come from (Chad, TJ, BT, D-rob, LC)? Gotta be thrifty somewhere. That's why Moore is our starting guard and the youth is movin' in.
This is a guy that signed a 7 year deal, because four years ago, he would have been out of football entirely, and instead got a chance to 'learn on the job' and having been MEDIOCORE at it, at best up until this point, wants to give nothing back to someone that is alrady giving him a million dollars he wouldnt have been earning in the first place.
