I disagree with that. The momentum was carrying Keller out of bounds. There was not a way he could've stopped on spot, do a full 90 degree turn and head up the field.

put the ball in his left hand and stretch for the marker (assuming it was in the correct spot), that he could've done.

Don't blame the chain crew! Players need to know where the markers are to gain a first down. I totally agree with you that it was on Keller. He even had the ball in the wrong hand, and didn't even attempt to stretch the ball over the marker.

The spread was the Jets -1.5, and the Ravens won by 1. That game had me thinking that MNF games are rigged.

It was Jets -1, not Jets +1.5.

yeah.. wish he put the ball in his other hand, and stretched his arm wide left, and just fell.

dude that's the issue here. Keller did know where the marker was.

If another person says he was supposed to look for the orange marking on the floor, I'm gonna make someone in my office cry.

That's what I meant. It's too much of a coincidence that Monday Night Football games always come shockingly close to the actual spread.

This is ridiculous. The Jets shouldn't have been in this position anyway, as they had tons of opportunities to take the lead.

I don't even think they were capable of reaching Field Goal range even if Keller had made that first.

I'm a Keller fan, but honestly, he should have been more aware of where he was on the field. He was clearly on a 10 yard hash and the first down was beyond that. I can see why Keller would have gotten confused, but you need to be aware of where you are on the field....

Though he may have still been seeing starz from the hit Lewis put on him a play or two earlier...

Even if Keller got that first down I have zero confidence that Sanchez would have been able to march us into field goal range.

Yeah, I don't think we had a snowball's chance either, but I also don't think the original poster was saying anything more than Keller was confused by the stick location. That's all. It's one factor. He should have been aware of the line to reach, he should have seen the marker on the ground, he should have been aware of all sorts of things, but a combination of (1) momentum, (2) desire to get out of bounds quickly, and (3) stick placement screwed him up.

You can see in the clip that he doesn't see the ground marker until he's out of bounds, and he sort of kicks his left leg around it in one last futile attempt, once he figures out he blew it.

If I was a betting man, I wouldn't have bet on Sanchez marching the team down after a first down anyway.

However, this discussion is about that one specific call, and you never know what happens in football.

I was just bummed about how these little things that shouldn't happen happens.

    Calvin Johnson TD
    B.Edwards Roughing the Kicker

Both correct calls but shitty rules so I'm not complaining about those because it was played within the rules.
